$125 for the control box and all components used to control a rims tube and pump. I have more than $150.00 invested before the shipping and taxes were figured in. Everything is from Auber Instruments, PID, ssr, heat sink, RTD and project box. It's meant to operate a 15 amp 120 volt rims...

    simple electric build

Again I cannot express how much I appreciate the wealth of information you guys are willing to share. I've had so much fun building this control box I wonder sometimes if I missed my true calling in life. Anyway, I cannot wait to brew again and with the improved control box. It's just going...

Thanks for the feedback! Sorry for the slow response, had shoulder surgery earlier this week and I'm moving a bit slow. As soon as I can, I'm going to work on the control box. Thanks P-J for the drawings! Kind of how I anticipated how it would look. Right now, since the rims is set up for...

    simple electric build

Quick question.... Currently, I biab and use a simple rims setup to maintain mash temps and a separate control box to power the boil kettle, but I want to ultimately combine the two into one control box. If I were to change this diagram to control a rims tube using 120 volt circuit, but still...

    Single Vessle EBIAB Plan

What are you going to use the galvanized steel nipple for? I would not use that for any component that is going to come in contact with the wort and stick with copper or stainless steel.

    New direction! eBIAB w/RIMS!

Gotcha! That is what I do too, age I use the element in the kettle. How do recirculate the wort? Right now I use a aerator that I put all the way down to the middle of the mash and the heated wort gets pushed out to the sides of the kettle.... I tried creating a whirl pool, but the basket...

    New direction! eBIAB w/RIMS!

Do what size element are you using in the rims tube? Earlier this week I did a biab with a rims and liked the control a lot better than the direct fire... But not sure if there us a 240v heating element with a low enough watt density.... Best I saw was 150watts per inch..

FAQ: Aluminum Pots for Boil Kettles?

I have the same pot, winco 60 quart... I do have a similar problem, kind of. I have a heating element and it appears to take about 10% more power to maintain the same boil I had in a keg... I will eventually get the aluminum (?) insulation others use one the board. If I were you, I would...

FAQ: Aluminum Pots for Boil Kettles?

I think you would be fine with the 4mm pot. I bought a 4mm 60 quart pot with lid for a hundred bucks and I cannot believe how thick it is. 4mm is just under a 1/4" thick. I had a hard time getting my heating element to be leak free, but I got it.

BIAB brew stand with hoist and pump

I thought the same when I read that quote. Anyway, I did the same with my system. I felt it was to much of a hassle to set up clean and store a traditional 3 kettle set up...
