    Single-Tier Brewstand Prototype

Why starsan? I'd be running PBW or the home made ilk through all of that, flush with clean water, then fill with starsan and cap off. That keeps the nasties out. Regarding the pump head, I finally took mine off after a year of brewing, there was nothing in there. But I put dust caps on my plate...

Attach a small scale hoist to Blichmann Toptier

well, the nice thing about the top tier is it's extruded aluminum. Easy to make things that can be attached. You could grab a crank from an old boat trailer. Then just setup some pullies. Depending on how many will give you your mechanical advantage. But should be easy to rig up a mount. Just...

Trying to figure this out-why do some have direct fire mlt on herms systems?

When I made my rig, it was my first start at AG. I had been doing Extract brews up till then. I didn't want to automate too much before I knew what I was doing. I also wanted my rig to double as a 3 burner stove to be used with my smoker, in the event I decided to get serious about BBQ events...

    wine/beer storage designing

I built this rack for my bar area. Stained it to match the rest of the cabinets. Made the plan off the top of my head, had to use some 5th grade math (Pythagorean theorem)

    22oz beer racks

They are very similar to ones I made a couple years ago: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f256/wooden-beer-crates-371297/

    Cleaning Copper Burs

another option would be to get a piece of dowel just slightly undersized for the tubing. Get the emery cloth and spray some of the 3M spray adhesive on it. Chuck it into your drill and insert and go at a low speed. First option would be a round metal file though.

Which single tier rig would you go with???

so the thing to take into account here, are you part of a brew club that hosts "brew days"? You wire up an electric system for 220, and that could be next to impossible to do somewhere else. Same thing with NG burners. Just something to think about.

Which single tier rig would you go with???

Building a stand AND going electric could be pricey. I'd build the stand to use what you currently have kettle wise, with either NG or propane burners. You can always use the same stand in the future for electric. As far as HERMS/RIMS, personally I'd go with a direct fire RIMS system. I...

    SS Brewtech kettles vs Blichmann

For the money, I don't think that G2 pot is worth it. I do not like that "new and improved" valve they have on there. I mean really, how hard is a 1,2, or 3 piece ball valve to operate. The thing I do like about the blichman pots is the stepped bottom that works well with their false bottoms. I...

    Downtown San Francisco Breweries

Hit up Thirsty Bear near 21st Amendment. Solid beers there. Don't bother with the Beach Chalet. The only thing good is the view.

Building a brewtable from SS Work table

I'd look into a solid piece of butcher block the length/width of the table top. Then attach it with screws from underneath. From there, you can cut out your drain relief in the block. Reason I'd do that is the heat generated will be conductive across the table top, the wood top should be a bit...

Late Notice - Headed to Denver Friday 10/17/2014

Fri: Tommyknockers and Back Country Brewing. Mainly because they were on the way to Aspen. Tommyknockers, meh. Back Country had a great breakfast stout and IPA on tap. Imperial Saison, pass. But the rest of their stuff was pretty solid. Sat: Aspen Brewing company, Freshcraft. Aspen was ok...

we were looking at that place and freshcraft. So, I'm from Philly. We have a really great selection of craft beer here, and I realize that. I'm looking for places to hit that don't distribute to our fine area.

Late Notice - Headed to Denver Friday 10/17/2014

We were looking at jagged mountian brewery. Looking to book a tour at New Belgium. Also, planned to stop in Loveland and go to Big Beaver Brewing (hey, we're teenagers at heart). Aleworks is good stuff, have no problem going there too. Crooked stave sounds good. Keep them coming!
