    Proud moments in homebrewing...

When i had a screw up on brew day and new how to fix it after the fact. That tells me I actually know what I'm doing.

    Handmade beer flight

Good job. Only mod i'd make is to just use glue for the base/legs. Then you wouldn't need to have the wood plugs you have there. That joint will be strong enough for what you're going to be putting it through.

    Tig welding!!

In my class this week, we did some stick. I have a new appreciation for that stuff. Get me back to the MIG please...

    Jockey Box help

I have a plate. I use the spray bottle cleaner thing a ma jig that has a million posts to to push PBW through each line, then flush, then some sanitizer. Let that sit, then when I go to use it, I push the beer through first, then put the ice in. That way you don't freeze the water/sanitizer in...

    Jockey Box help

I built a 4 pass jockey box. Just cut a hole at the top of the cooler and epoxied a piece of 1 1/2" or 2" pvc in the hole. Then all 4 lines hang out there. There is enough beer line to get to the kegs, and when in storage I just push them all back in so that the QD's are crammed together in the...

    Any Bacon Makers Here?

I made some last year. My wife rolled her eyes at me, but 10 lbs went in about 3 weeks (gave some to friends, etc). One of the pork bellies, I used this maple syrup that was aged in rye whiskey barrel. That stuff was delicous.

    Tippy -single tier brew stand

I don't know about you, but my garbage men would be pissed/refuse to pick that stuff up (yes, I don't have the autoloader service, part of my township taxes). Luckily I have a bunch of self sustaining people in my neighborhood, one post for "free chicken feed" and they all come running with buckets!

    Philly area Homebrewers

Hey, I like the idea of getting the gift card, but #1: getting that may seem like payment, and #2: If you get too many brewers, you really won't be raising much money for the fundraiser will ya? ;)

Question about Roselare Ale Blend, no activity after 48 hours

I would just let it ride for a while. Do not rely on the airlock activity for actual fermentation activity taking place. How large is the fermentor? How full is it? In my experience, Roselare just took a while. I put 5 gal away in a crawl space 2 years ago, still haven't bottled/kegged it.

    New Single Tier Brew Stand

i hope that extension cord is plugged into a GFCI outlet. Are the stands welded to the top, or simply sitting on top of the stand?

Man, if I didn't have a hockey game at 7pm tonight, I'd be brewing for the first time since late Oct.

How many pumps are people using?

I use two, on a direct fired RIMS, and routinely do back to back batches.

    Extruded Aluminum or steel????

Mine is both. 80/20 for the top, steel for the legs. Stainless grate on the top for burners. The aluminum does not get hot, and provides countless mounting options for anything you may need later on. The upside is everything comes off mine easily to be stored elsewhere (non heated garage). Then...

Finally starting my single tier build.

It's a great way to brew two batches back to back. As long as you have a pot for a MLT, once you collect into the BK and get that going, you can refire the MLT and get it up to strike temp quickly to dough in on beer #2. And yes, to step mash, you would be firing directly on the MLT. I...

Stuck Mash With Blichmann False Bottom

are you running your valve wide open on the pot? I run mine cracked, along with cracked on the pump as well. If it's wide open out of the pot, it will stick.

Advice on building a 20+ gallon bottling bucket

or you could just siphon off x amount from each fermentor into one bottling bucket, rinse repeat until you've bottled it all. Would save you buying a specialty bucket.

    Tig welding!!

oh, i've already burned through the inside elbow of the welding jacket. That's fun, seeing these marks all up and down my bicep and forearm. Took me a while to figure out what they were.

    Tig welding!!

I'm taking a class now, focusing on MIG though (as that's what I have at home). Not sure I could manage TIG at the moment, too many variables all at once for (for me anyway). But I've been welding those coupons for the past few weeks myself. Burned the snot out of my hand on the first day. Big...
