Weissbier Bee Cave Brewery Bavarian Hefeweizen

haha crap! i’ll use that next time. did that the first time and must have under pitched, came out a bit weird. but this one seems to be shaping up. has a slight rubber hose flavor, wondering if that’s from over/ under pitching. ugh. hopefully that’ll clean up. it’s not too bad but i’m pretty...

I know it needs more time, but...

I brewed the BPP and had the same issue. Very tasty but ended up way too sweet. Next time i’m cutting the lactose by half (already has cut it by half of the original recipe) and will rouse the yeast if it gets stuck before expected FG. overall a great porter though. you’ll enjoy.

    Sulfur smell in hefe

Interesting, thanks guys. i’ll give it a stir to stimulate the final fermentation and wait on the sulfur smell. definitely a tasty beer under it so i agree time may heal this wound.

Weissbier Bee Cave Brewery Bavarian Hefeweizen

Been in the fermenter for over a week now. Gravity’s at 1.022 but it hasn’t been moving very quickly for a few days now. worried I have a stuck fermentation. Use WLP 300 for the first time and got a crazy sulfur smell over the course of the first week. Is this normal and should I just wait a few...

    Silicon tubing question

hot side/ cold side? my silicon tends to pick up some of the hop colors on the hot side. can reduce it with a hot pbw soak if it really bothers you but functionally it should be fine.

Weissbier Bee Cave Brewery Bavarian Hefeweizen

Still dialing in my BIAB approach so ther was an inordinate amount of squeezing and muttering. mash ph hit 6.1 - i’m thinking the wheat - so i added 26ml of lactic 88. had this same issue last time and failed to properly account for it. hopefully it won’t tart up the final product too much. note...

    Why doesn’t everyone BIAB?

    Why doesn’t everyone BIAB?

none of this makes any sense. which is okay. let’s just call a spade a spade...

    Why doesn’t everyone BIAB?

only the first half of #3 is valid. the rest are junk. unless you mean you’re crafty/ wealthy enough to afford a 3v system but can’t be bothered to get an old ladder or put a hook in the wall? why are some of the 3v’ers in this thread so uppity?
  16. trevelynzx

    Why doesn’t everyone BIAB?

i call BS. our forefathers were the same as us - some would BIAB (or comparable tech for their time) and some would do 3-v. the “tinkerer” vs. the “practical” brains have been a constant since the dawn of humanity.

Don't think it is an infection, but honestly don't know what it is.
