Sparkin up the Devils *******. It was 40 degrees today, but that thing throws so much heat I ended up in a tshirt. 100ft copper 1" tubing, somehow aquired for free. Complicated insurance thing, no time to get into it now ;) Not sure what to do with it yet, might have to use it to run...

Lag in updates, I know. Life gets in the way. The building we'll be using The water source is the spigot in the foreground, we need to bury it and run it the 30 feet into the brewhouse. Before pic, a little smokey Lots of old haz-mat to deal with

    Harpoon Ginger Wheat

I didn't realize that the people designing these beers weren't the brewers. I thought their operation was much larger, and these guys were simply the brewing "staff". I'll certainly shoot them an email to see if they'll give me a few pointers. Thanks!

Not sure if you guys have tried this yet, but I'm in love with this beer. I want to cook with it, pair it with sushi, roll around in it... Only problem is, it's a limited release, part of the 100 Barrel series. I'm going to need a lot more of this beer in the future. Oh, and by the way...

    Burgers and Brews

Ran that one by the swmbo, she said 'no' before I finished the sentance. Then I told her it didn't have to be her ****s, I could have other ****s too... she didn't talk to me for a while after that ;)

    Beer Bar in DC?

Sorry, spelled it wrong Gordon Biersch

I was going over to Tosche Station to pick up some power converters when I found this

They've been making this for years, but this year they've (finally) upped production and are bottling them in 750ml. The price is better too. Before when it was extreamly limited, a single 12oz went for $10-$12! If there's anyone out there who wants to organize a little trade, this CT...

    Beer Bar in DC?

Gordon Bierch is a good stop, excellent german style lagers. Oh, and try the garlic frys. They're infamous ;)

    Burgers and Brews

A good idea, I've been looking into more generalized catagories to put things into, right now I just have them tagged by brewery name. Also, I've abbreviated all the articles into summeries with links to the full article underneith, making it a little less wordy. Got the text size bigger...

    Burgers and Brews

Right, less words, more ****s. Got it ;) Been working on the text size thing, but I started going crosseyed at the html, so I gave up. I'll look into it again tonight

    Burgers and Brews

Hey all, here's my shameless plug for my recently re-designed beer site. Let me know what you think, improvements I might make, and if you have a site that I can include in the links. Thanks for the look-see! Burgers and Brews

That's a LOT of welding, and unfortunately not in the budget. The existing outlets will work fine I'm sure, we just need a decent false bottom. I have a little experiance with welding (mig only) and given the equipment, I'm sure I could get some stuff done, but we're doing this on a shoestring...

Extreme Beer Fest, Boston MA, BeerAdvocate

Tickets are almost sold out already, and they haven't even posted all the breweries. I'm trying to convince my friends that we can go to the first session Sat and still drive home at the end of the night, so we don't have to get a hotel. Not entirely sure if that will fly. After the American...

Surely somebody has already done this...

Mead and/or wines stand up to the test of time better than beer. I've had a few aged barleywines, and it's an aquired taste to be sure. It's pretty common to make a "21 year mead" when the kid is born, and pop a bottle when they hit the magic number.

Removing sediment and iron is certainly something we should do, but the well water won't have any chlorine in it. Activated charcoal seems to work better with municipal water sources. We're the only ones who use this well. BTW if I may be so bold, your setup is dead sexy ;)

Eesh, not sure about RO. I know the principle, but I'm not sure it's in the budget. I'm desperately hoping the well water produces good beer, but even if it does I'm concerned with it changing with the seasons (this well is over a hundred years old.) Right now water quality/quantity is our...

    Blueberry wine

It didn't go well. Had to dump that batch. And you don't have to imagine the color of the wine, just look at the inside of my door :p

    Blueberry wine

That was a primary fermentation, bits of blueberry got stuck in the airlock. To ensure no bottle bombs, chilling the wine down in the fridge is another way to drop out any yeast leftovers And yes, the blueberry mead I've got going is my third attempt. This time it's a larger batch with a fair...

Cleaning out all the debris is the first step, and not surprisingly the one none of us wants to do. With holidays on the way, I'm not sure how much progess we'll get done. Instead I've been using the time to think about design, research, and poke around the posts on this board for ideas. I...
