    DIY Beer Line Cleaner

Cool. Thanks, I think that may work for me. I actually read your post and thought "what is this guy talking about?" I had misread and thought you meant screwing onto the existing threads on the thinner portion; now I understand after re-reading. At least the coupler only cost a couple bucks...

Fudge. Any work around to avoid getting a new post? I'd hate to have to order again and pay the shipping.

    DIY Beer Line Cleaner

Does it have to be a Firestone post? I tried this with a AEB (Cornelius, Spartan and Super Champion) post and I cant get it to fit onto the coupler.

    TAP-A-DRAFT: first impression...

Hmm, I'll have to check some of my grocery stores since it says they are available. Though I'm not sure of the accuracy since one of the locations it listed closed about a year ago. Thx

    TAP-A-DRAFT: first impression...

I'm thinking of picking up this system for gallon/small batches; ciders, etc. Any suggestions of where people are getting theirs? Does Miller/Coors still make theirs? TIA

    Backsweetening's impact on ABV?

Interesting, you are essentially proportionally diluting the ABV. With this, sweetening with frozen concentrate or sugar would have less of an impact on ABV?

    Backsweetening's impact on ABV?

How is ABV calculated when backsweetening? I assume that sweetening at bottling will lower the ABV. When would you take a hydrometer reading? Let's say for example that OG was 1.060 and brought to 1.000, then sweetened. Thanks for the info.

Cut up your Mr. Beer LBK and ...

Got mine yesterday with the airlock kit. Overall, I'm not really impressed with the Brew Demon. Mr Beer definitely seemed to be higher build quality. I also don't really understand the plastic/foam insert on the top, feels like it would absorb liquid and harbor bad stuff. The lid doesn't really...

    Any thoughts on this pot?

I have the smaller version of that pot, it's been working fine for me. Don't forget to prime it (or whatever the term is). Just fill with water and boil for 30 min or so.

    Beer Belly

Biking to work is pretty great. Coldest it gets in the winter here is about 10-15 in the morning, but its been more like mid-20s on average in the AM; so pretty tolerable. I've lost about 20lbs in recent months (though that was after I gained about 18lbs with my wife's first pregnancy). Goal for...

    Beer Belly

I bike to work as long as its not raining too much. Comes out to about 8.5 miles round-trip, then about 15-20 minutes of weights in the morning. Keeps me in reasonable shape, though I'd like to be about 5-10lbs lighter; but I havent really changed my diet so far. I like beer and candy too much...

Cut up your Mr. Beer LBK and ...

Nice. Mine is coming on Friday. The airlock is part of an add on they call the "bubbler kit" or something like that and adds $6.

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

Unless I am mistaken, bottle bombs are a function of too much priming sugar and not oxygen. Oxygen affects flavor.

Yet another noobs first batch of cider

If you look at EdWorts thread, there are folks that leave it for months (6+) in the primary.

    No action in the airlock

By the looks of that ring, it looks like the Krausen has risen and fallen. Id say let it sit for the full 3ish weeks and take a gravity reading. Airlock is not the sole indicator or fermentation (as nice as it is to see). Also maybe some more details like yeast, pitching temp, etc would help

    CO2 fills in Northern Virginia

This is the way to go. I'm about 20 minutes away but just find an excuse to be out there if I need a fill. They refill, not exchange. Was $10 for a 5lb when I was there in December. They dont list it, but said they can refill bigger tanks too. Dude I dealt with was also super nice.
