    My Electric setup

I agree. I'm planning to mold a rubber cap to completelly isolate that nasty exposed conection and make it safe and water proof:ban:

    Brewing barley coffee

I was grinding some Carafa 2 for my homebrew and thought I would brew some coffee with that to see how it would taste. Used 1/2oz of Carafa2 for 4.5 cups water on my regular coffee maker. Perfect, even though this was my first time drinking barley coffee, it was very drinkable and for sure a...

    Blue Moon Clone

jjcoolj, I think that you will find a wide range of opinions here about how long you should leave on primary, if you should use a secondary or not and aging time. I'm on the side of drinking my beer as soon as possible, as long as flavor is not impacted. Sometimes I leave more time if I have...

    Blue Moon Clone

Depends on the yeast. If you use S04, it ferments in 3 days, S05 will take 2 weeks. Once fermented, I would leave it in keg for 2 weeks.

    Simple SSR PWM power control

If the PWM circuit command the SSR to connect at little after a zero crossing of the 60Hz wave (worst scenario), it will hold till the coming zero crossing to actually activate the load. That is 1/120s=8.33ms. If the duty cycle of the PWM is high, like 2s, the lost power represents only 0.007%...

    Simple SSR PWM power control

Yes, that was my first thought too, just didn't want to return the controller and wait for a new one. Also, I like the dial to adjust the power, very intuitive.

    Simple SSR PWM power control

That is correct, I'll set sv at say 215F and control the boil manually.

    Simple SSR PWM power control

Got started with my electric brewing and yes, bought the temp controller without the manual option to adjust the boil :(, so had to come up with this circuit. I know this is out there by the zillions, just wanted to share. You simply install this between your controller and the SSR and let you...

    Blue Moon Clone

here's #7, same as #6 but replaced the oat flakes with 2 TBS of corn start to last 15min on boil. Same thickness, better chill haze. Recipes can be found at https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxL7TXS8tHPsNWM2YmQ1YTYtMGY1YS00YjJjLWE5ZDktMmQ2ODdmMzljNDUz/edit
