    brewing tonight, maybe

I thought I was ready to brew tonight but realized I am .5 oz short of simcoe hops for the boil. I have all the other hops called for in the recipe, which is 1.25oz of warrior, 1 oz of amarillo, .5 oz of simcoe. My yeast starter is ready to go. Should I boil tonight and omit the .5oz of simcoe...

American IPA Dogfish Head 60 Minute Clone (AG) & Extract

I thought I was ready to brew tonight but realized I am .5 oz short of simcoe hops for the boil. My yeast starter is ready to go. Should I boil tonight and omit the .5oz of simcoe or should I put the yeast in the fridge and buy a the extra .5oz on Friday(first day the HBS will be open)?

    Thanks!

I brewed with Mr. Beer for a few years and finally made the switch to more traditional home brewing. Not all grain yet. Had a few bottles of my first batch last night and was pretty pleased. Thanks for all the insightful posts you have all shared.

    Arm into the bottling bucket

I'll second the rubber o-ring on the fermenter. Turned out fine.

Brewed on Sunday, still no bubbles

I would think that I would see bubbles in the airlock by now. The temp inside the fermenter is around 73 degrees, the garage smells like beer but I'm not seeing the amount of bubbling I would expect. How much bubbling should be going on? My temp did drop the first night down to 64 degrees. I...

    Uh Oh

I brewed my first batch in a few years today. I noticed about an hour after putting my fermenter in a cool dark place that the rubber gasket in the lid was no longer there. So the air lock was loose. Should I go into the fermenter and get it out of there? If so, what type of contamination...

    salt water in bottles?????

We had some tidal flooding this past week and a case of clean bottles ended up in the water in our garage. Will they still be ok to use if they are sanitized before bottling?

    room temperature

Thanks. I love IPA's so maybe its is the right time of the year for me to brew. Our house will stay around 68 degrees. The garage is a bit cooler I can arrange one upstairs room to be cooler as well. I'll also talk to my local homebrew store when I go to purchase my equipment. I can't view...

    room temperature

I live in the Hampton Roads area of VA and am wondering what worries might persist with brewing during different times of the year. I have used MR. Beer in the past and really like the results. However, some of the recipes has specific temps to keep the beer at for various steps. Do you have...

    Ready for the next step

I've been brewing with Mr. Beer for 4 years now and have liked the results for all my brews. However I need to get better. Also it makes more sense to brew a larger volume for close to the same money. Is there any value in keeping my mr. beer keg and bottles? I have a local homebrew shop...
