Syracuse, ny - round 8 group grain buy

Certified check will be in the mail Friday. Awesome job! This is by far the best planned and organized Syr group buy yet. Hopefully we will be doing this again next spring. :mug:

109 bags in 8 days! Looks like this may close sooner rather than later? However this goes I'm ready.

Syracuse, ny - round 7 group grain buy

Personally for me I am hoping for sooner rather than later. Since making the switch to electric brewing I have found the whole process to be: 1: faster 2: easier 3: much more enjoyable The only issue with the new setup is I find myself brewing more often and using more grain. The minute...

Syracuse, ny - round 7 group grain buy

Hopefully round 8 will be starting soon. I believe the coordinators for this group buy are planning on a fall buy. Can't blame Cidah for wanting to take a break after 7 back to back buys.

Cooler vs keg or SS pot for HLT?

A 5 gallon HLT would work for most brews however for a high gravity beer or a 90 minute boil more than 5 gallons of sparge water may be required. If you only have 1 burner and plan to use gravity to fly sparge (3 tier) a cooler would probably be your best solution because they will hold heat...

Syracuse, ny - round 7 group grain buy

I am in the process of building an e-brewery. I live in an apartment so my options are limited. The box in the pic is from Cidah's first build. My goal is to ultimately end up with a 2 vessel e-herms system utilizing 1 pot as a hlt/ bk and the other as a mt. Within the next week or 2 I should...

Syracuse, ny - round 7 group grain buy

A flat top may be ok. Everything I have read on the subject says to not put a flask directly on an electric element.

If I had a gas stove I would boil in the flask. Unfortunately for me (apartment) stuck with electric so boiling in the flask is not an option.

Syracuse, ny - round 7 group grain buy

We have 3 stores in the Rochester area. I have been to 2 of them and get the same impression as everyone here that the focus is on the green side. Their web site states "We guaranty the lowest price both in store and on-line. If you find a cheaper price we will match or beat it." 10 bucks for...

    My Electric Brewery Build!

Awesome build. You have some serious woodworking skills. Your stand is beautiful. Now lets see how quickly you use up that pallet of grain from the last group buy.:D

I am no expert by any means but every recipe I have ever seen using pilsner always seems to have a 90 minute boil.
