    dead guy clone

Hi edie! I have a Dead Guy clone in primary right now. My recipe is a little different (based on a kit from Rogue my LHBS had and what was on hand--didn't use the "kit"; pieced together ingredients). Here's what I did: 6# Pilsen DME 1# Munich .5# crystal 45 1# corn sugar 2oz. Perle...

    Changing tastes, due to brewing???

:ban: ++1 Yep!! I've learned and read so much that I'll try anything twice. I loved when my LHBS had Maharajah on tap....but have a Dead Guy clone fermenting now. The ability to take 4 ingredients and make them taste completely different is magic!!

    Flooding in VT

Would have gladly taken (maybe a little less than "gladly" ;-) ) that storm off your hands. You guys did endure that surprise earthquake and all. The local weather (South Florida) had us prepared to get a Cat 4. Glad to hear that everyone was safe!! Sarah.

    Sanitizing question...

Bleach will sanitize. Just be sure to rinse the bottles until you can't smell the chlorine any more. Good luck, Sarah.

    Ohikilolo Fest (1.5 g BIAB)

The color is amazing! I made a not quite Oktoberfest as well, now I'm hoping my color is as nice as yours. Will you be able to hold out until October? And why only 1.5g?? That wouldn't last too long around our house!! Sarah.

    homebrewing costs

It's an art. Or is it a science? I recently explained it to a friend as "something people have been doing for thousands of years, with the same four ingredients that can be as simple or as complex as you want depending on hops or yeast strains & time and temperature". It's the art...

    whats with the bottle hype?

^^+1 (except the new parent part)!! In our house, we keg and bottle depending on what we have going on. Usually I can convince HWMO to bottle 12 or 24 and keg the rest. He prefers being able to pull a beer from a keg, I like a bottle every now and then.

I found myself drunk on my own beer tonight, and i cant be more happy!

Be safe up in the north for the next couple of days!! Stay inside & drink homebrew. Beer was about 85% of my hurricane supplies this week, fortunately we didn't get hit so bad. It was pretty gusty though. Cheers, guys!!! Sarah.

    Can't get a "pipeline" started.

Just scored 4 5g glass carboys with handles & 3 (??) covers for $60 on CraigsList!!! Which brings the inventory up to: 2 6.5g glass carboys, 2 3g glass carboys, 1 Ale Pail & 4 cornys. We have 3 kegs tapped (Ginger Ale, Cream Ale, Bacon/Maple stout) and 23 gallons fermenting!! Pipeline is...

    New Brewer In South Florida

Hi John! Is your LHBS the Beer Depot in Lake Worth? If so, they're awesome; if not, they're AWESOME and they should be!! They have happy hour on Friday evenings and classes pretty regularly. I'm in Boynton and am on batch #8 (since May). Temperature can be an issue here in SoFla and...

Goin Rogue - Help me formulate a new recipe

I brewed a Summer Solstice "almost"-clone that was delicious! Perfect for summer drinking. My boyfriend's (HWMO) brother was in town & we wanted to brew with him so we edited the clone to match what we had on hand. It was grain to glass in about 3 weeks (it's our 5th batch & we're still...

    SWMBO wants to brew.

Sorry guys, have to pat myself on the back...I bought him the original set up for his brithday and have hijacked the recipe finding/creating, purchasing of new equipment and research to make better beer. We brew and go to the LHBS together. We have made our own 6 pack as a date night almost...
