    Keezer cycling too often

@Golddiggie I should have bought this one it would have been easier to thread through with the wire set up. I hear ya too many projects

    Keezer cycling too often

@Beernik, what are optimal cycle times in your opinion? @Golddiggie, that's interesting I could consider that in the future. Yep its sealed with good amount of spray foam insulation

    Keezer cycling too often

Yep right on the compressor hump. That's where a mount already was with probe when I bought it so I just followed suit. I think I'll use some water first and see how that goes. Thanks!

    Keezer cycling too often

I think I'll check after I put the probe in water, looks like some people do experience some drastic changes in cycle times. Thanks

    Keezer cycling too often

I could. What would be the ideal cycling time to have (realistically)? Would it be better to have it running for longer when it runs than to have it running less time but more often than it is currently?

    Keezer cycling too often

I'm a new brewer, I started at the beginning of the year and have brewed 7 all grain batches. I recently got a really good deal on a chest freezer that someone had already converted into a keezer by putting a steel plate through the front wall with three tap holes. Its 15 years old and was...

    Beginner Efficiency Troubleshooting

Just a follow up on this - the last beer I brewed had an OG of 1.065 and around 70% efficiency! I milled the grains much finer so I think that was the main cause of the problems. Thanks for the help

    Beginner Efficiency Troubleshooting

@doug293cz Thanks for the info! I'm not an accomplished beer math nerd yet so it will take some time to fully understand all of that. Does your spreadsheet show correction of volumes back to 68F? I am familiar with adjusted to the calibration temp of the hydrometer but not back to a specific...

Do you think given the information I have that the chunky milling is most likely the biggest reason? Seems like it would need to be something like that to get such a low OG since the mash temp was consistent and water is presumably ok.

Super easy recirc. Interesting I will try that with the grain to avoid stuck mash. Ok I will do that as well.

1.3 quarts per pound of grain for the mash. I have seen that as well for the BIAB - and no I don't BIAB.

And 3 pot system not BIAB. I recirculated as well and did stir a handful of times. At the beginning when the grain went in and I would say stirred 4 or five more times after.

    Beginner Efficiency Troubleshooting

No I tailored the recipe to 5.5. I crushed myself at a local homebrew supply store but unfortunately did not consider the gap but from memory I kind of remember it being a little on the wide side. I know that isn't helpful but I want to narrow all other possibilities as well to get it all...

    Beginner Efficiency Troubleshooting

I have been researching forums and reading homebrew material to try and figure out what is causing my low OG but I decided to just post all the information and see if someone with more experience can give some tips given my particular situation. I recently brewed my second all-grain 5 gallon...
