    Filter as Randall

I found this one, added the fittings, and installed a plastic tube with drilled holes. Just need some beverage tubing and a picnic faucet to get it going. I've read that you should use 10' of tubing between the randall and faucet to reduce foam. Is this true?

Feedback on a Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout?

Brewed it today. Went with 1 oz Kent Goldings and 1 oz Chinook for the bittering hops and upped the aroma hops to 1.25 oz Willamette. We'll see how it goes! This will be my longest timeframe for a brew so far.

Please help me tweak my recipe...

I believe most of the citrusy/grapefruit character comes from your aroma hop additions so I would cut back the bittering hops to 1 oz. at 60 minutes. I brewed a rye IPA recently with this hop schedule: 1 oz. Chinook (13% AA) 60 min .5 oz. Cascade (5.5% AA) 10 min .5 oz. Cascade (5.5% AA)...

    blizzard suck

KC is ridiculous! Made it all the way home from work just to get stuck in the driveway and had to shovel a path for my car. Came home to a little Maker's Mark, a tall pint of homebrewed milk stout, and my fiance's roasted chicken... already forgot what's happening outside. Tomorrow morning...

    I made it 2 1/2 days...

And "testing" is why I consume the entire contents of my hydrometer tube every time I take a reading... can't even wait til packaging.

Feedback on a Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout?

Yes, I've already started soaking, but I bought a 3 oz. bag of oak cubes and only planned to use 1.5 oz., so starting over wouldn't be a pain. My friend at the LHBS suggested american oak with a medium toast to keep it rather mild and didn't say anything about boiling. I think I'll just wing...

    First post first brew today

You won't believe how fast your collection of equipment and size of your homebrew setup will grow. I started with a plastic fermenter and a 3 gallon stockpot. Within a year I was doing full boils in a 7.5 gallon kettle and had 3 fermenters going at a time! The next year brought my first...
