Heading to Asheville for a day

It's hard to lose in Asheville when it comes to brew and food. It kind of depends on what you are looking for. If you go to the Jack o' the Wood on Sunday afternoon, there is often an Irish ceilidh going on...it usually starts at 3pm and has some really good musicians. They don't brew on...

Should I or Shouldn't I?- Okra Mead Debacle

Sheep testicles. We cut them into medallions, seasoned and fries them. They were tasty! Strangely enough, though, there were three in a pack. ??

Should I or Shouldn't I?- Okra Mead Debacle

If only I'd thought of this! But we cooked all of them for New Years. Dang!

Should I or Shouldn't I?- Okra Mead Debacle

Awesome! Your wife certainly has your number, btw. Her commentary really added to the quality of the video. So funny! Soooooo.....what's next?!

    Chromebook from Google

El Hubbo's net book crapped out and considering one of these. Can we get an update on how you're liking this device still? Any problems with it so far?

    Damn it people are frustrating

We go to Asheville frequently and I keep some dollar bills in my front pocket for folks playing music on the street. Plain ol' beggars who just ask for dough get a friendly "peace be with you" but no money. Giving to charities for homelessness is so much more effective for the community. But...

    Total Blackout

I'm DVR'ing the series! I love it. They do some shows with individuals and some with two-person teams. Those are the best. I saw one recently where they were to guess what was the filling inside six doughnuts...three each. One person got benign things like chocolate and lemon. The...

What your pet peeve about Brewing

When people say "when are you going to brew a batch for me?" Then they laugh like they are the only person to ever say that to me. No clue how hard it is to do...how much work is involved. I had one rather persistent person who I finally had to just get real with. "Oh, just let me wave my...

Do You Cook With Your Homebrew???

Funny this thread started when it did...just today we did a leg of lamb with one of my dry apple ciders as the basting base. Came out fantastic!

What's your occupation: Engineer or Non-Engineer

Wow! I just finished "The Big Burn" about the founding of the Forestry Service and was riveted. Our property backs up to a Nat'l Forest, so it yours is a career close to my heart. I lift a glass to you!

    Bedlam's Brew Shed Build

I would actually like some input on how would be best to set up the top level brewing area. I have done mostly extract and some partial mash brewing to this point. I'm not sure I'll ever go the full monty on all grain, but I haven't ruled it out. What would be the ideal floor plan/layout?

    Not enamored with Apple

Thanks for the validation, GoldD. Every time I hit a brick wall with this, I wonder if I've just become one of those doddering old farts they used to market the Jitterbug cell phone to. Geez. I just know so many shiny, happy Apple people and I. Can't. Be. One.

    Bedlam's Brew Shed Build

It will be 12' x 16', two levels, with a deck hanging off one side. It is near our well, so I'll have water, too.

    Bedlam's Brew Shed Build

El Hubbo and I have been scheming for some time about our next building project: a combination root cellar, garden shed and brewing/canning shed. The site: It will be 12' X 16', with the back wall dug into the bank and a second floor that will be the brewing/canning area. Off one side...
