    Unable to achieve rolling boil

if you brew in sub-freezing temps outdoors, every little mechanical advantage helps. pre-heating the kettle may be overkill, dry heating grain to 100F before mashing. But if it floats your boat...

Can i travel by air with yeast samples in hand luggage

you could just take half as many and build up your starter prior to brewing. WhiteLabs' vials are extremely durable-- these little vials actually are what is used to make 2-liter bottles. They are subjected to heat and pressurized air and "blow-molded" into large 2-liter bottles for soda...

    Clairity?

COLD CRASH your secondary fermenter either outside (if it's cold enough) but covered to protect your beer from U.V. from daylight exposure, or in a chilly garage (one without a furnace or a hot water heater) or garden shed is perfecto. the cold crash is necessary to encourage flocculation of...

    Johnson A419 questions

trying to get 185F water from 115v

I checked, it's a 20amp breaker. The power cord to the heating element is wired right now with 14/3. The service to the shop is 100amps and tthere is 230v in there though I would prefer to keep it 115v in case I ever have to move the brewhaus to a location without access to 230vac. The tank...

trying to get 185F water from 115v

:confused:Is this possible?? I have a vulcan heating element in my 35gal HLT. It's a single loop element and will hold the tank at around 150F... Not quite hot enough for strike water. my question is simple. Is it possible to get my HLT up to 185F and hold it there using just a 115v...

    Shortcuts & tips

Me neither, tastes unlike Oktoberfest lagers ought to taste. Ayinger's Okto-fest is a more relevant example of the VMO style... I have heard that Dos Equis amber is also a pertinent example of this endangered species.
