    Insane Guitar Lesson......

Buckethead is the man. I heard he was going to be the guiatarist for the new Guns N Roses, guess it fell through. Too bad...I might have actually cared about them. He should get together with Les Claypool, that would a perfect match IMHO. Great video anyhow.

    Another incompitant newbie

Ha! My buddies gave me crap for months when I told them I messed up EasyMac (I ended up with macaroni & cheese soup as well). There's something depressing about messing something up with "easy" in it's name. Don't worry about it! My first batch of ale turned out alright and I messed up...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Alright, you guys were getting pretty excited about this stuff, so I decided to try a small batch (1gal) on the 21st. I've got a few questions: 1) I used an Ale yeast I had. Is the 4 week fermantation (long fermentation) because you used wine yeast or will my ale yeast take just as long...

Yeast + Juice = drinkable alcohol?

I was trying to explain why I didn't just go out and buy Sparks. I'm 22, but I wish I would have known that you could buy brew supplies at any age earlier. I'm pretty surprised that nobody thought of this in highschool, but then again most kids are too lazy to brew it when pretty much anybody...

Yeast + Juice = drinkable alcohol?

I take pride in doing things myself, or at least trying to. That's the reason I got into homebrewing in the first place.

Yeast + Juice = drinkable alcohol?

Dang...looks like a no-go. There's no amount of $ worth going blind for, but I'm willing to bet that I could at least get a settlement. On top of that, I'm sure there are preservatives as somebody said. I'll look into the EdWorts Apfelwein, but the few wines I've had I wasn't crazy for.

Yeast + Juice = drinkable alcohol?

I'm not the first to have the idea, theres a beer called BluCreek Zen IPA that's an energy beer. It was just one of those bonehead ideas that I get when I'm bored. I'm still interested in pursuing it though.

Yeast + Juice = drinkable alcohol?

Alright, I was sitting in my night class, trying to stay awake drinking a "Rockstar: Juiced". If you don't know it's like Red Bull, but with something like 70% juice. It dawned on me that with a slight beer taste and some alcohol, this would be a lot better (chemistry makes me want to drink...

List of things I did wrong on first batch.

Alright, finally got around to bottling my first batch today. I screwed up SO many things, and the beer still tasted great (pale ale) even though it was piss-warm and flat. Things that went wrong: -Wort boiled over BADLY -Forgot to add aroma hops when I was supposed to, threw them in the...

    Good second brew?

Nope. It's Yarrow. Page 221 in "The Complete Joy of Homebrewing". Probably the smallest ingredient list I've seen so far. Extra light malt extract, fresh Yarrow flowers/leaves, sweet gale, American ale-type yeast, and corn sugar for bottling. When spring comes I may see if I can find some...

    Good second brew?

I think my favorite beers are probably porters, except Guiness. I don't care what everyone else thinks, I hate Guiness. Now...where'd I put that flame suit? Anyways, I want to try something different. Trying to make something like beers I already like would go against what I'm trying to...

    Good second brew?

My first brew isn't even bottled yet and I'm already thinking what I should do next. One of the reasons I started brewing was to try different beers. Are there any beers that are different, yet the ingredients are easy to find and the brewing process isn't too hard? I like lagers don't have...

    Why use bottling nozzle?

There's a plastic thing (don't know how to describe it better)on the syphon that locks when pushed down and pinches the hose shut the wand is just a plastic tube with some kind of nozzle on the end. No "bottling bucket" I'll probably just use the bucket that was my primary fermenter to mix...

    Why use bottling nozzle?

A bottling nozzle/wand came with my kit that is supposed to be attached to the syphon. Why can't I just syphon directly into the bottles? It seems like it's just another thing I have to sanitize, and another thing that could get bad yeast in the beer. On the other hand if it was useless, they...

    Straining?

Thanks guys. I transferred from the primary to the secondary today, and looking at the siphon I didn't see any chunks going through anyways. It also smells good!

    Straining?

My first batch of beer is fermenting right now, in the primary fermenter. When I move it to the secondary fermenter should I strain it to get the junk out...or will that junk help the beer? Same goes for when it goes from secondary fermenter to bottles. Just trying to figure out what I should...

    Another newb

Hi all, Just started homebrewing, and have a few questions. I'll save those for later, as I am on a few other forums (mostly car stuff) and know how much members hate it when newbs don't introduce themselves. My name is Joe, I'm from western Massachusetts (Yankees suck!). I googled...
