Dude- Just a passing note (too late, da**it!). Some whole 2-row toasted at 350F for 10-15 min gives a nice toasty, biscuity note. Some say to cure it for a week or 2 after, but I've used it straight in the mash in the best beer ever. Just for future reference. Sully

Thanks for posting that! I put up some gutters as a Christmas surprise for SWMBO, but they're on a screen porch w/ low roof angle. Guess I'll spring for another downspout, even though it doesn't snow much here. Lots of rain & freezing temps, tho!

Todd- Do a search for (or buy!) John Palmer's "How to Brew." It has a very good dicussion on water treatment and water reports. You made need to talk to your water co. engineer to find out the total dissolved solids, hardness, calcium and alkalinity, etc. Palmer 'splains it better in Ch. 15-...
