    No Go says SWMBO

Did you see the post about the $30 7.5 gal aluminum turkey fryer on amazon.com? https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=65124 Not sure if it will meet your needs. I'm going to use mine for boiling wort. I have no knowledge of AG brews if that's the route you'll be taking.

    Post-party beer collection pic!

Nice idea for a party. Although if I had been there the Boddington's would not have been left over. I'm just starting out and this would probably be a great way to get some bottles...

FAQ: Aluminum Pots for Boil Kettles?

Bah I've eaten tons of green eggs when I was in the Army. It was because the containers used to keep the eggs warm while bringing them out to the field was lined with aluminum. And probably because the KP staff kept having us scrub off the protective dark layer. I'm probably going to try the...

Why go deer hunting when you can...

Yep that garage is not dirty. But you might want to put a seat on that bicycle before you ride it.:D

Are you serious? This is going to give me nightmares.

21 days at 70°F, time lapse vid

I'm a nOOb, so this is one of those questions. Is that amount of head normal? I'm on my first batch, so I've never even had a homebrew before. Just curious.

Suggestions for a mother's day present...

5 gallons of wine per year is about right. I think it takes 6 months to a year to make a 5 gallon batch of wine. I was fairly surprised it takes over a month to make beer... Let us know how she likes it. : )

Suggestions for a mother's day present...

Sounds like a great Mother's day present. I'm guessing your dad isn't much of a beer drinker if he has no interest in home brewing at all. Another point is that with the same equipment, she should be able to make her own wine too.

    Talk me down Fellas

Oh no, I got my turkey baster today. I took an SG reading which appears to be 1.08. I'll give it a few days and see where it is again. I'm not entirely sure I was using the hydrometer correctly. It seemed to get tilted sideways and give off readings. Anyway, I saw no need to waste my...

    Talk me down Fellas

Its funny, when I mention to a friend that I started HB, everyone's first reaction is "I want to try one when they're done." When I tell them its going to be a month, they're shocked. I'll probably end up giving half my first batch away to friends who have never even tried a HB. On guy told me...

    BeastII

Wow, a dark sweet beer with a kick... That's pretty tempting. I'm not sure I could stand the wait though. yeesh!

    Talk me down Fellas

After further reading, I should probably correct my first post. I didn't make a yeast starter with my dry yeast. I "rehydrated" my yeast in previously boiled but currently 100 degree water. Is that recommended? The extract instructions told me to pitch the dry yeast directly on top of the...

Hmmm, saw a BeastI and BeastII in your sig block. I may have to look up that one.

Do I have to do all 5 gallons?

I got the True Brew kit. Instead I went with the 2 buckets rather than the gold. I was told that the gold kit was meant to work with wine or beer. The bottle filler is a little big for beer bottles and leaves too much headspace when bottling. So if you opt for the gold kit, go ahead and get a...

    Talk me down Fellas

Good point about the ladies. Wonder if its too late to change my subject line... And yes, its in reference to drinking the beer as is, lol. Its only day 4. Is it suppose to smell so yummy? I've drank alot of micro brews when I was in Europe, but this will be my first home brew. That's...

Exactly why I was thinking I would look for a BIG turkey baster, lol.

    Talk me down Fellas

I'm 4 days into my first brew and I don't know how much more I can take. The pressure is getting to me. :mug: 5 gallons seemed like alot, but after 4 days of looking at it and getting a stray waft every so often, I just don't know. Anyway, I'm starting small and slow. I got a no-brew kit...
