What passes for a cool day in California at the end of January? ;) Just curious, from Chicago. (Where it's actually warm. Freezing rain? In January?)

    NB Chinook IPA

Update: This has been bottled for just over a month, and this is great beer! I will definitely be brewing this one again. Patience really pays off, I'm glad I was able to exercise some with this batch! Good luck, and Patience to you's who are brewing this one. Ferment it long, condition it...

    Don't try to stop me!!!!!

No splashing, no oxygenation. I'm not about to try and talk you out of doing anything with your own beer. Is there a reason you want to secondary? I have been, by the way. But my next beer is not going to be, because I am learning, and I want to see the results I get without doing it. I...

    Starsan at bottling time question

As you fill your bottles, the Star San foam will start overflowing before the beer does, which is a great indication that it's time to withdraw the bottling wand. Star san is so good, in so many ways!

    I have Sinned

It's none of my business why that beer was in your house. And in your defense I would say, that beer wasn't going to drink itself, was it? You are forgiven, 3 hail mary's, and one bloody mary oughta do the trick.

Star San is making me think twice about home brewing

Star San is the best stuff since beer. I bottled today, and Star San-itized my bottling bucket. The last bit of beer wouldn't fill a 22 oz. bottle, but it did fit in a pint glass. So that's where it went. Flat, fresh beer with a star san foam head, and man, it was good. Any acid can be bad news...

    Infection or Funny-Looking Yeast? (pic)

Pardon me for sounding like a drill sargent, but that should be clean 12 hrs. after bottling. Do that right away, and the cleaning is easy. Here's to You and your beer :mug:

Question about equipment and primary/secondary fermentation

A second bucket drilled for a spigot makes bottling much easier. You can add your boiled/cooled sugar water mixture to that bucket, rack your beer onto the sugar which helps mix it well. The spigot and a bottling wand are used to fill the bottles. Good Luck! :mug:

    NB Chinook IPA

It turned out fine, I'm not disappointed. One of the things I'm learning as a new brewer is what to expect from different hops. That's one of the things I liked about this kit- just chinook hops, so I can get a feel for them. The one I tried was still green, but curiosity got the better of me...

    My official newbie questions thread.

Can I ask why your Mr. Beer is fermenting in a 5 gal. bucket? That's 2.5 gallons of beer, right? Maybe Mr. Beer does 5 gal. batches, and I'm unaware. The Mr. Beer kits that I've used fermented in the Little Brown Keg. Forgive me if I'm missing something, and welcome to the wonderful world of...
