    Staggered Dry Hop?

I am going to use 2 oz. of cascade hops to dry hop an all cascade ale. I am thinking about using 1 oz. for 4 or 5 days, then 1 oz. for only a few days. Would anyone advise for or against this? Should I just use the 2 oz. at the same time? Is there any benefit to staggering the additions? Thanks...

Thank you, thank you, thank you Yooper and bobbrews for the suggestions! :rockin: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f37/please-critique-my-extract-recipe-385408/ I started with a recipe, listened to the advise, and ended up with the best extract brew I have yet done. At final gravity measurement...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

I'm planning on using 3lbs of DME in each of a few experimental LBK brews...I have an extra o-ring/grommet intended for an airlock. Think I should drill out the top of the Mr. Beer lid for a blowoff tube? :mug: PS: I realize the lid is already vented, but this talk of blowouts has me a little...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

The test batches will be more like 3 weeks apart, so I'll just pitch the whole packet. Thanks, bpgreen, for the advice! :mug:

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

I started brewing with a Mr. Beer, then moved to a 5 gallon extract setup, where I am currently pleased. I would like to use my L.B.K. to ferment smaller, experimental batches. I've been buying 11.5 gram yeast packs for my 5-gallon batches, and am wondering if these would be too much for a 2...

best time to take s.g. reading?

Are you asking about taking a gravity reading prior to racking to secondary? That's the way I read it... If you're brewing an extract, and topping off your fermenter with water, you will see different readings at the top of the fermenter, compared to the bottom, when things aren't mixed well...

    Higher ABV

I know perfectly well why you'd like a beer with a nice alcohol punch. The last extract brew I made had an OG of 1.074, and fermented down to around 1.018. If my math is correct, this equals a little bit over 7% ABV. I actually used an online beer recipe calculator, and kept increasing the...

    Secondary Question

Using the 2nd LBK as either a bottling bucket, or as an additional primary fermenter are both awesome ideas, in my humble opinion. :mug:

How do you guys do this???

You need to have a steady supply of your favorite beer on hand, because you can't touch the new stuff for a long time! And I'm falling into this part now.. I need another fermenter, because even though my "Waiting" patience is good, I see a weekend come, and wonder how come I didn't boil up...
