    Another new guy from Wisconsin

Welcome, I'm from Neenah and Appleton way back when. Only been to RA once but several trips to Sebring when I lived in West Palm. Awesome pics, but I'd prolly pull up a chair and a sixer of home brew and stare at that Aston Martin for hours. I'm drawn to those things like a bug to a zapper.

    Hi from North Carolina!

Welcome from Concord. Lotta NC folks lately, good stuff.

    Hello to all from NC

Welcome from Concord. If you don't have an obsessive personality already, you're about to find out what its like. :-) 3 months in and I'm pricing out kegging systems. Luckily the wife considers this a better pastime than gaming.

Books. Whats the best one you have read lately?

Past month or so I read: Unbroken, astounding read of Louie Zamperini's ordeal of drifting at sea and being at POW in WWII Japan. Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, meh, it was ok. Some formulaic stuff that annoys me, but maybe just me. $hit my Dad Says, pretty darn funny but short and reads more...

    Best Movie Ever Made

Aw man how'd I forget this. You're out of your element, Donnie! Idiocracy was pretty funny, too. "I'm supposed to be getting out of jail today, not going back in..." /// "you got in the wrong line, *******! Hey guys, let this ******* out!"

    BIAB OG too low...ideas please

Kinda joking, but she runs a tight ship, so not much in the line of shop towels or rags. Even our dog towels are spotless. I'd be stuck with a bathroom towel, guest bedroom blankets, or maybe one of the Afghan Throw things we have on the couches. I don't see those ending well for me. I'm not...

    BIAB OG too low...ideas please

I'm sure it works well, lots of people do that. For me, every towel or blanket I image employing in that method will probably end with me explaining to SWMBO why I thought that would be a good idea. I have a double oven right next to the stove so the glass is at eye height and it's super...

Internet gaming while drinking home brew

I took up home brewing to pull my life away from the He77 known as Eve Online. After a couple weeks away I couldn't remember what had been so compelling.

TV Shows you've given up on.

As a gun enthusiast I had high hopes for Top Shot. Pro shooters, wide array of weapons, challenging shots... But instead of being about the best shooters, it turned into Survivor with guns. The minute I saw people aligning themselves to vote the best guys into elimination I stopped watching...

    Hi from Albemarle, NC

Good luck and welcome from Concord, NC. There's a Homebrew shop in Charlotte called Alternative Beverage, and a couple of nice Microbrew tap rooms. My favorite so far is NoDa, they have several great beers.

    BIAB OG too low...ideas please

Thanks. Not sure if anyone cares, but since OP was about ideas for efficiency, some notes on my process for 3.5 gal batch using 6.75 lbs of grain... In the 4 gallon pot I mash in, I heat 2.2 gal of water to 164 degrees and put in the grain bag, pour in the grain, and stir it in thoroughly...

    BIAB OG too low...ideas please

I did a Brown Ale today, my first AG. It was a 3.5 gallon BIAB. Also reused yeast for the first time, poured right onto a Wyeast 1028 London Ale cake from an Oatmeal Stout that just went into secondary. Using the squeeze-away advice here, it hit spot-on OG of 1.053 that the software...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

First all grain, stove top BIAB, 3.5 gal batch of American Brown Ale. Gonna pour it on top of an Oatmeal Stout yeast cake of Wyeast London Ale. So first all grain and first yeast reuse.

    The 6 stages of brewing

Wow. I'm still a newb, I didn't know it progresses that far. But I now have something to look forward to. Maybe need to consider something more like the AA 12 step program.

    The 6 stages of brewing

Hmmmmm. Looks like this model needs some work. Addiction and equipment hoarding are definitely part of the progression.

    The 6 stages of brewing

Probably not original, but I saw "The 6 Stages of Project Management" as a spoof of the Kubler-Ross 5 Stages of Grief model. For brewing, at least for newbs like me, this model seemed to fit: 1. Enthusiasm - This is gonna be awesome! 2. Confusion - What temp am I supposed to start at...

    Show Us Your Label

That's a slick label. I have barely serviceable graphics skills and I struggle to get the small fonts to look crisp like this. Here is my latest:
