    Questions About New Plate Chiller

yeah bring it inside.. i have one that i store upside down and at an angle so eventually everything would drip out, but like microbusbrewery said there is always something still in in next time i brew no matter how long its been

    Oxiclean solution shelf life

so if i'm soaking a carboy in it, doesn't help/hurt to soak for a couple days? usually i'll put half a scoop in the carboy, fill it to the brim, and let it sit for a couple days after emptying.. tends to work fine but would it be the same if i just did it in the afternoon then rinsed before bed?

Is it okay to leave starsan in a sealed keg?

i used distilled water though for kegs i'll just put an inch or two in there, seal it, then shake it up.. it'll be good to go whenever just shake it up again before use and dump the contents

    Oven Sanitizing

i hope he meant a quart of mixed star-san.. i got the big bottle as a gift a couple years ago and i may have taken an inch out of the bottle.. distilled water in gallon jugs is great.. i keep an extra spray bottle under the kitchen sink that we use around the kitchen counters and tables as...

    Keg-o-rator

not much i would change.. i like the collar since i don't have to deal with keeping that part cold (what you are worried about) .. mine currently fits 3 but with room for a 4th someday.. i made sure to have a dual regulator so i can do 2 different psi if i want, that may be a good suggestion if...

    Dry hop question

i've always done 2 weeks (like mentioned above) in the primary and its worked out well.. the less racking the less chance of problems

    Really, 60-90 minutes!?!

for my batch sparging i'll drain it out.. fill up the required amount with the sparge water, give it a couple good stirs, and just vorlouf a quart or so once it stops moving around.. i don't usually take the time to let it sit at all and my results have always been quite good

    Keg Shelf Life

if its in a fridge they can last quite a while.. i'm sure longer than you would ever need to drink it.. i've noticed that most styles get a bit better after a couple extra weeks, then plateau to how its going to be for quite some time.. i've probably had some kegged for at least 3 months and no...

    Homemade pretzels

i'll second alton brown's recipe.. take some practice to make them look good, but they'll still taste good :-) i wouldn't mind a good homemade beer mustard.. that would be nice if anybody has any recipes for that as well!

Pump - Is it really worthwhile?

i like having a pump and a plate chiller since it greatly speeds up my brew day.. i usually do 3 or 4 batches in a day (don't have much time so i take a day off work and do it in one shot) and w/o those i would be at it until it got dark out

    Stop draft faucets from turning

that only happens to me when i remove the actual faucet for cleaning, though i would also like to know if anybody has a good solution for this!

Best way to store a bottle

yeah, fridge is probably the best way to keep beer freshest the longest.. cellering it would be the best way to age it for a bit

    Stupid newbie question

best to get one that can fit multiple ones, and you can always add extra hose, taps, secondary regulators, etc in the future.. i have one that currently holds 3 but will have a 4th someday when i get enough money to do a nitro tap (you can see it in my signature)

    Beer lines and Cleaning

i second dfess1 .. i have a hand pump cleaner that i use just after i kick a keg.. sometimes i go months w/o changing one of them (i have 3 on tap at the same time so it can take a while) and i've never noticed any off flavors or whatnot

Adding a chocolate bar to a chocolate stout

yeah, the less sugar the better in the chocolate, especially if you are bottle conditioning.. one of the first times i made a chocolate beer i put the choc in the secondary and a lot of the sugar was still in solution (unbeknownst to me) .. when i put in priming sugar i didn't account for that...

    New or used keg?

i have 3 new kegs.. i figured with how long i will own them i wanted to get something that will last a lifetime.. everyday use is fine if there are scratches/dings especially since i know i was the one who made them so i know the history.. i've never had any issues with pressure problems.. one...

She is on Ravelry and finds most of her patterns there. She did find those, but wanted something a little sleeker and possibly free! Thanks!

    Knit Growler Cover

My wife wants to make a knit growler cover for our use when transporting our beer. I was wondering if any of you have any patterns or know of any out there? we did a search online and only found one type, so we wanted to see what else is possible. Thanks!
