    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

Lemon lime hefeweizen that's been in primary for 10 days. Anyone else think this is infected? It tastes fine still and I saw something similar on my last IPA and that tasted fine in the primary as well. Still haven't tried it in the bottle as its too young.

    NewBrewer question

If you're onto a secondary I am assuming it has already fermented in primary for a few days? You're fine, you shouldn't expect to see many bubbles in secondary as fermentation has mostly slowed down.

Dry Hop Infection or Just Oily Residue?

How did it turn out? My IPA is looking very similar after dry hopping with 100 g of hops in a sack. The bubbles don't burst. Did it taste ok?

American Pale Ale Da Yooper's House Pale Ale

Been making this one as a partial BIAB and the grain bill I modified, although I am not sure if it ends up different from the original is pretty damn tasty: 1.500 kg Liquid Malt Extract - Light (33.52%) 1.375 kg Vienna (30.73%) 0.900 kg Munich I (20.11%) 0.250 kg American 2-Row (5.59%) 0.225 kg...

My first hop schedule - please critique

Just brewed it up with a 60 min addition and kept the rest as a 10, 5 and a hop stand. Got great efficiency on the BIAB as well. Going to then dry hop in a week. Calling this one YanKiwi Pale Ale in reference to the American and New Zealand hops. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

My first hop schedule - please critique

Sorry I used B Saaz as Motueka in BrewMate because it it's basically the same thing (i think) and Motueka is one of the few hops not available in the program :)

My first hop schedule - please critique

Great thanks for your help. Definitely going for more flavour and aroma so that seems like great advice. Would ijust bump up my 60 min addition to compensate for the loss in IBUs? To make it add up to 56 IBU?

Beer themed trip to Germany etc. Recommendations?

Neither. I did a very stupid thing and did the via ferrata route on the Alpspitze without gear. There were a few locals doing the same. I have a fair bit of experience in mountains so never felt too exposed or in danger but it was a bit awkward at times going hand over hand on steel cables with...

Beer themed trip to Germany etc. Recommendations?

Hi guys, Back from Europe and I just wanted to say thanks for all your help. It was a great beer themed trip after all, and the wine was pretty damn good too! I love the regional beers in Europe. Spent a couple days on the Rhine drinking Riesling and Federweisser, one night drinking Kolsch in...

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

Never mind my fears. This beer turned out great and I think it is supposed to be a bit sweet considering it is a hefe. I did find that this beer, though highly carbonated does not have great head retention at all. Is that standard for a hefe?

My first hop schedule - please critique

Hi guys, Just adapted Yooper's House Pale Ale into a partial mash BIAB a few months ago with all Cascade and really enjoyed the resulting beer. I was thinking about keeping the base malts the same as I have used the first time and changing the hops while keeping a similar hop schedule. I have...

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

No idea why but mine finished super high (1.020) with an OG of 1.051 (before the addition of homemade limeade). I have no idea why. I have never had a beer finish this high before. I primed for 3 volumes with table sugar and the bottles have been carbing for 11 days and they are still overly...

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

Ok thanks guys. I suppose I should add I am using PET bottles so no explosion issues to worry about. I do indeed find it strange that Brewer's Friend lists the CO2 for German Wheat Beer at 3.3-4.5 vols CO2. I only ended up with 20 L due to issues with my efficiency and fermented at exactly 17...

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

This has been sitting in my fermenter for two weeks. I am going to give it another week to finish and bottle it next Thursday. This is my first hefeweizen and I am used to brewing American style beers but I am not sure about the recommended amount of carbonation to add to this beer. I plugged...

Beer themed trip to Germany etc. Recommendations?

That would have been amazing! Ok so based on recommendations I think the plan will be to travel the day of arrival to somewhere along the Rhine Gorge, then Cologne for one night. Next night in Brussels, then Bruges and Antwerp before getting to Amsterdam. After Munich I will spend one night in...

    Oops! Stir bar in primary!

Dropped the lid from the growler into the primary before. Beer still turned out great but I couldn't refill my growler for a few weeks.

    Carbing bottles

Try this: http://www.brewersfriend.com/beer-priming-calculator/ Just use the style guide and try to aim for the middle of the range for that style. This calculator has never steered me wrong.
