I don't know if the first PID has a manual mode, but the last one definitely has.
So I vote for the second kit. The only downside - you will need a fan for that heatsink. And don't forget about thermo grease
If you want to build controller by yourself I'd rather recommend this kit
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1pc-KYOTTO-AC-Solid-State-Relay-SSR-KR2040AX-280VAC-40A-VR-to-AC-/140553987088
Plus you need a heatsink like this one...
This power meter can be fried if connected after with any Phase-Angle controller (ie Still Dragon kit or any other SSVR). If you connect it "before" SSVR it will work but display incorrect (constant) voltage.
Unfortunately you can't simply wire PID and power regulator to control one SSR simultaneously. You either need some logic circuit or have 2 SSR wired inline as was mentioned above.
1. Yes. If you have a K-type thermo couple you need to connect it to 9 and 10.
2. No. Heater coil should be connected to SSR as shown on pic on post #2 , but L1 and L2 should be connected to terminals 1 and 2 f your PID. and SSR terminals 3 and 4 should be wired to PID terminal 7 and 8.
3-6...
Heatsink temperature can be up to 150-180F with no problem for SSR.
Wire can be worm, it's not a problem either. Wires from SJOOW cord are fine to be used for internal wiring.
You can plug this transformer to separate 110V outlet and then connect 220V output directly to 1 and 2 terminal. It doesn't matter wich 220 wire goes to 1 or 2
Yes STC1000 by itself consumes a few watt. So you can you pretty much any step up transformer.
For example this one - http://www.ebay.com/itm/50W-Step-Up-Voltage-Converter-Transformer-110V-to-220V-Adapter-/271582846670
IF you have a 110 -> 220V transformer, you can easily use STC to control your 110V freezer and heater. STC1000 output is just a relay and it can control any voltage.
However as I know 220v version of STC has a Celsius indication.
I don't recommend to use a Fotek especially if you are a newbie. But if you are know what are you doing you can (potentially) save a few bucks .
I don't use a Fotek in my builds. I'm using Mager. It's the same Chinese brand that Auber offering. They just re-label it.
Even a fake clones sometimes are good enough. Actually SSR is very simple device. Unless fake SSR maker is very greedy it should work fine. Just try to use at least 2x higher rated SSR (ie if you need to control 20Amp use at least 40Amp rated SSR)
