    Head retention issue

Huh, that makes sense and is exactly what I'm seeing...nice big head that collapses but leaves great lacing.

    Head retention issue

I have used oats quite a bit and now can't remember if having them in the recipe correlated to head problems...sounds like an experiment! I thought oats were supposed to contribute to a nice fluffy head that stuck around.

    Head retention issue

I brewed a saison, recipe below, and split the 12 gallon batch 3 ways. 1 fermented with WLP644 Saccharomyces Bruxellensis Trois, one with WLP590 French Saison, and one with US-05 as a clean control to get a better idea of what flavors are yeast derived and what is coming from the grist and hops...

No Carapils........ 15 minute mash instead

Hmmmm...I recently switched to induction and might have to try this! I'm looking for a cheap on demand water heater to speed brew day without having to worry about what kind of crap is in my old tank heater. Eventually plan on RO into the on demand into the kettle with whatever mineral profile I...

Most annoying response when you tell someone you're a homebrewer?

That might be my favorite homebrew story ever! Why in hell does your FedEx guy give a sh!t if you ARE making shine? Yeah, FedEx would be getting a call and if homeskillet continues to work for them and continues to deliver packages to you, inspect every one of them with a fine tooth comb!

    New BIAB questions

Sometimes I do a cold pour over in my Papazian zapap but most of the time I'm looking for easy so I anticipate lower efficiency, bump up the grain a couple of pounds, squeeze my sack like it owes me money, and call it a good brew day [emoji16][emoji482]

Cheap Ph Meter Vs. $100 Ph Meter Test

Came back to it and retested after the meter was off for a while and it's on the money! I'll retest this evening and tomorrow to check stability over a little time. How long will the calibration solution last?

Cheap Ph Meter Vs. $100 Ph Meter Test

Just meticulously tried to calibrate a cheapo meter. Not stable at all, even during the calibration process!

    Intertap beer faucets

Could not be any happier with my decision to go with an Intertap tower! The ball lock connection is perfect for bottling and the stout spout creates such a beautiful head I will probably buy more! Silicone tubing will fit right over the standard spout so I'm not sure how useful the barbed one is...

Force Carb or Low and Slow

If you're not in a rush, go low and slow. I usually burst carb but that's when I wanna drink it now!

    New BIAB questions

I buy 50# sacks of base malt and store them in gamma sealed buckets for months. You will need a mill. Corona is an option but Cereal Killer Mills come up for $80-90 all the time and they are waaaay better. I built a Corona in a bucket when I first started, but my Barley Crusher has been rocking...
