    Results of my first brew

So a better route might be steeping some wheat for the partial and sticking with the wheat extract for the remainder?

Good suggestions. I definitely wanted to try a partial mash next batch. Maybe I'll mash in with some light malted barley then add the wheat extract something like 2lb barley, 4.5lb wheat extract.

    best mini fridge for kegging?

From a purely economical approach, small freezer chests seem to be your best bet for cu.ft / dollar, though they require an additional temperature controller. Lowe's has a deep freeze that will hold 4 cornys for $169. Its what I plan on going with when I build my kegerator.

    Results of my first brew

Ok so I thought I'd throw my first attempt at a batch of brew out here so some other noobs like myself can learn from what mistakes I made and some of the pros could lend me some advice for the next batch. Here's my recipe: Thyree Weisse Guys - American Wheat Beer 3 gallons water preboiled...

    Starsan question

I just bottled one of my first batches a couple of days ago, and with a bottling wand, the foam lifted up out of the bottle for the most part. =] Yet another reason I love StarSan, no rinse!

    Cleaning the Primary

Great! I'll give the oxyclean a go. Thanks for the information. ;) edit: The Oxyclean works great! 4 scoops in 4 gallons of warm water, shaken and left to sit over night. Wiped the sides down with oxyclean the next day and dumped. Bucket smells like new. Thanks again.

    Cleaning the Primary

I did a bit of searching and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. I have a 6.5gal plastic ale pail used for primary/bottling. After washing with unscented dish soap, hot water and a washcloth and allowing to air dry between washings twice, and a rinse with Star-San, it still smells...

Does star san dry out your skin?

That's good to know! If I ever have a question about Star-San I can't find answered through a search, I'll be sure to PM him.

Why does my beer have no alcohol?

A fun way to estimate (albeit completely unscientific) would be to get a sixer of a commerical beer similar in style and see how drunk you get. Then drink a sixer of your homebrew and compare inebriation levels :D

Does star san dry out your skin?

I agree with BellTap. I wear powderfree nitrile exam gloves when brewing, racking, bottling, etc. And an exam mask incase I sneeze/cough.

    Columbus IN's newest brewer

Hey all. I'm 5 days into my 2nd batch of brew, (the first since taking the plunge and upgrading to a 5gallon setup instead of a Mr. Beer.) I tried the first recipe I came across in How to Brew that sounded tasty, a 3 Weisse Guys. I'm glad I found the "N00b Advice" thread here, though with...
