    Any machinists out there?

I'm looking for a machinist that does work on the side or has their own shop. I have some aluminum parts that I have made about once per year (non beer related) that I'm looking to get re-quoted and would like to see if anyone here in this community was interested.

My shamelessly cheap $12 DIY stir plate

Easiest DIY stir plate ever! Great job! I've got the same fan I use when soldering, but didn't think it would have enough grunt for a stir plate.

How many gallons of homebrew in 2014?

Since I'm late to the thread, I'm going to cheat and lump them all together. 21571 + 105 gallons since 1/1/14, 35 of which was all done last weekend. Like my grains, I was spent! = 21676

    New Guy > Central Indiana!

Welcome to brewing and to the forum! This forum, coupled with the extremely knowledgeable staff at Great Fermentations, you'll get most answers you need. I have zero time to join a brewing club and barely enough to make it to Friday Night Club (2nd Friday of every month) at Great...

My full size refrigerator to lagerator / kegerator / fermentation cabinet conversion

Ever since our friends decided that they liked my Strausstoberfest beer better than the Spaten Oktoberfest, I decided that I could brew all the beer for our annual Strausstoberfest party. Last year I had a total of 25 gallons on tap and it was all gone within 4 hours and 17 minutes. So this...

    First Timer's Thoughts on NHC

I ran into Denny as well and had the same thoughts. I didn't get to talk to John Blichmann, but was impressed that he was there and talking to customers just as everyone else at his company was doing.

Indianapolis - Best place for a beer?

If you are passing through and don't necessarily need to see downtown, I would suggest going around the northside and stopping at the Upland Tap Room in Carmel. Good food (try the Three Lil' Pigs sandwich) and great beer. They don't brew on site, but still worth the trip. They've got outdoor...

You know you're a home brewer when?

When you have more refrigerators than TV's or people in your house.

    First Timer's Thoughts on NHC

This year I got to attend my first NHC. I've been brewing since the Summer of 2011, but didn't have an opportunity to go previously. Since I'm in Indy and it was only a 4 hour drive to Grand Rapids, it was an easy sell. We always do a long weekend trip somewhere each summer that is...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Wow, that's cool! I am getting started on my next fermentation chamber build and I knew I would need a fan, but haven't gotten there yet. It doesn't mean that I haven't had the fans sitting in a box for a year though....

    Super easy tap handles

Yes, they do take a little extra attention, but extremely convenient. Nice tap handles on your end though!

using a trash bag on my primary

Vessel size arguments aside, you could add a level of comfort and use some food safe trash can liners. http://fermware.com/fermentation-bucket-liners/

    Writing on Bottles

I second that. I've got a black and silver sharpie near my keezer. Silver shows up on my brown growlers and bottles and when I use a clear growler with a darker beer, it's easy to read. I keg and have yet to come up with any kind of "real" label when I do bottle for friends.

    Super easy tap handles

That was the method I had hoped to use. Thanks for the picture showing how to do it.

    Super easy tap handles

That's the proper way to do it. My way was the way to do it if you need them done tomorrow and the hardware store is already closed. In my opinion, it doesn't matter which end goes down. There was mention in the video about the slot helping to cut the threads. I'm not sure if that's exactly...

    looking for tap handle fitting.

I just started a new thread on my easy tap handles, where I use them. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/super-easy-tap-handles-477028 Here are the inserts by the way. You can get them at Amazon, McMaster or most hardware stores. I got mine at Lowe's. You just need to drill a 1/2" pilot...
