I need some advice on where I might have screwed up.

Might want to take the reading again with after doing a degas. Bubbles in liquid make it thinner thus your hydrometer will give a lower reading.

What are you brewing next & have on tap/bottled

Going to brew a saison this weekend. Have a few bottles of a tiny rebel cwtch clone, a few of a mango blonde, whole batch of a smash just went into the fridge. Batch of pilsner with a week left carbing and a batch of neipa I bottled last night.

Hair like things in bottles, is it an infection?

Hair like things in bottles, is it an infection?

They are tiny like eyelash length and white and are floating near the top of the bottles. I haven't seen this in any other of my brews before. Problem is they are so small I can't get a good picture of them to add *update* It tastes good so I'm not too worried, they are all in a 3c fridge so if...

    Shaking a fermenter

    Wet hops and your thoughts?

Surely you would need to freeze them and transport them frozen because from what I can see they degrade quickly when fresh. You may have a market for people dry (wet?) hopping if the aroma is more intense this way but would have to price it right. Interested to see how it turns out

Have any of you tried this yet? https://www.geterbrewed.com/lalbrew-new-england-yeast-11g/

    Yet another NEIPA question

I strain mine before it goes into the fv so most of the large hop bits get caught but some of the smaller ones get in so that's OK. Ouch that is crazy cold. Luckily lowest it gets is - 10 which is about 14f I think and that's at night. But again an immersion chiller wouldn't be very happy at...

    Yet another NEIPA question

I have been using ez water calculator which says to be between 5.4 and 5.6 but this is always the same and not dedicated to a specific style, I can always add some more lactic acid to bring it down a little more easily at least. Helpfully I am about 10 minutes to cool to 170f as long as my...

    Yet another NEIPA question

Thanks I will move the dry hop up a day or as that seems to be the consensus and will leave the whirlfloc out of this one.

    Yet another NEIPA question

Thank you very much for this great reply. So if I were to drop my flaked oats and wheat down to .25 each that would give me 4% so I will do that and up the golden promise by the .5 to bring it back in line for og. The water in the UK is quite soft compared to what I see from a lot of other...

    Yet another NEIPA question

Hi Guys, Can someone take a look at my first NEIPA recipe and process to make sure im doing it right please? Sadly here in the UK i haven't managed to get a NEIPA commercially and really want to try one so i'm going in kinda blind here. 4kg Marris Otter 1kg Golden promise 0.5kg flaked oats...

Ordered a pH meter, meat thermometer and a 0.001g scales. Worked on first draft of a neipa that I'm planning next.
