    Dry hop question

i dont do anything to them, and most probably dont. if i'm dry hopping and bottling, i'll clean a secondary, toss the hops in, rack the beer ontop. let that sit a week or up to two weeks. then bottle. i normally use whole hops, but i've used both, i just have a ton of cascade whole hops. i...

Who here uses coleman xtreme cooler for a MLT?

i used one, and i've noticed a little when its cold. i just put an old blanket over it or sit something heavy on top. the only times i've had problems keeping temp is doing a really small beer and not preheating. i usually preheat with 3 gallons around 180, and let it sit for an hour.

    Need some help/advice

i say brew an american brown ale. i think magnum is a pretty good bittering hop and you're not going to be hopping the crap out of it anyway, then maybe use some cascade for your later additions. i'm sure there some good brown ale recipies in the database and then play around with the hops you...

    Favorite base grain for IPA

i think it depends on what style of IPA your making, English or American. If you want an American style with a little more malty side, you could try something like 75% of yoru baise grain being 2-row and the other 25% of your base being MO.

What was you biggest boneheaded rookie mistake?

just throwing grains, malt and hops together without any real thought, i guess one in a hundred you might get lucky, but i never seemed to. oh and getting drunk while brewing, always a mistake, last week i got so drunk i forgot when i started the boil!?!?!?

POLL: Which IPA do you like better: Stone IPA, Dogfish Head 60, or Bells 2-Hearted?

Two Hearted and Stone IPA are my top two IPA's, i picked Bells, but between the two, its like trying to pick the the hotter of two smoking hot twins. i like DFH 60 though, but as others have said, just nothing stands out about it.

mine was in college, we always were drinking some kind of BMC at parties, but i had a friend give me a bottle of Big Daddy Brown by Mad Anthony's in Fort Wayne, IN. they use to bottle it, but dont anymore. that day on i was hooked. so anytime we had to run and pick up beer i'd grab a six pack...
