    Traveling to Columbus Ohio

Thanks, I will be staying in downtown Columbus near Nationwide Childrens Hospital. I have a car, so I can drive for a good beer selection. While I love a good tap room or brew pub, I am traveling with 2 small kids and SWDLB (She who doesn't like beer). I am looking for beer that I can take back...

    Traveling to Columbus Ohio

Hello, I am looking for a good craft beer store in the Columbus Ohio area, as well as some good beer recommendations (something brewed in OH, or anything I cant get in Minnesota). Thanks in advance. Chris

What's your fav way to sanitize tubing?

I use a wallpaper tray. Its about 3' long to hold all tubes, racking, etc. I hold it down with something heavy like a keg lid. Having the water on the warm side also keeps the tubing flexible.

What to do when you can't brew

I am in the same position as you are OP, so I feel your pain. Once we sell our house, we will be building a new one, so I wont be brewing until 4-6 months after we move out. I thought about bottling a batch, but didn't have time and now its all packed away. I am going to try to find a home brew...

Single tier foldable stand - concept

Yes, that's what I was thinking. If you're worried about strength, maybe 3 of them, or widen them

Single tier foldable stand - concept

This is a great thread, and I will throw out an idea for thought. How about not using hinges at all, and use 3 U-shaped holders welded on the main cart between the supporting braces of the wing. You could keep the extra legs on the main cart for added support as well. So the wing would just...

Making an offer for a house help

Stop worrying about how much the house costs, its only money. The real question you should be asking is... Where am I going to make beer in this house?

    How fragile are refractometers?

I haven't been off more than a couple of points from expected OG. I check the calibration on mine with distilled water before each brew session and it usually doesn't need much for an adjustment.

Brewing In Garage During Winter in Cold Climate

Im in Minnesota and in the same boat as a lot of you. If the outside temp is warmer than 15, I can brew in the garage comfortably. Once the burners are going, it quickly heats up to the upper 50's/low 60s. I crack the garage door for fresh air. I run a food grade hose from an inside faucet...

    Dog name suggestions

I had a dog in the mid 90's called Barley. It is a great name for a dog.

Choose: Bigger Fermentation Chamber or Bigger Kegerator?

If you ask her, you give her the opportunity to say no. If you just buy it, you can always apologize later. Just keep in mind that a $200 freezer will probably cost you another $400 in shoes, purses, etc. Plus that one thing that is better than beer.

Breweries and Craft Brew Pubs in Minneapolis

It depends on what you mean by close. I would try to get to Surly Brewery, but its always busy and not that close to the airport. Definitely try the Surly Furious on tap. Its served in most places. Also, Northern Brewer LHBS is a few miles from the airport.

    Next Steps - Equipment Advice

I brew with liquid yeast. There are probably more varieties of liquid than dry. If your beer tastes good now with no off flavors, you probably don't need a stir plate. That being said, you can build one for next to free with old computer parts. A flask is about $20, or you can use a growler...

    Next Steps - Equipment Advice

If you are considering a move to all grain, I would go with a propane burner-less to buy later. If you plan on staying with extract and steeping grains, I would get both the thermometer and burner-just plan on brewing outdoors. I would skip the thermo well, just as its accurate and easy on the...
