Check out the recipe by Crazy8. I made his recipe but substituted with fresh sassafras roots. Came out great except for a few tweaks. Gluck!

    Hard Root Beer recipe

In my experience with backsweetened Apfelwein, it kills the sweetness just a TAD. I'd say the difference in flavor (for apfelwein) if equivalent to an additional month of aging as far as change in taste. Does that even make sense? lol I'll report back on the root beer.

    Hard Root Beer recipe

It'll clear up in a few days. If not, like above, just cold crash. Mine's still not carb'd although it is pretty high octane. Tastes great though! I'm going to put a few grains of yeast in the bottles when I get home today and pasteurize when my PET bottle gets hard as a rock! Cheers!

Best Book to read about Home Brew?

I agree with this. I finished Papazian and I'm jumping into radical brewing. Although I'm doing into Palmer's book simultaneously.

    DDG for Founders CBS

I got offered a CBS for my DDG. I guess my next question is, was CBS worth the hype to anyone that had it? What would it compare to? Thanks everyone for chiming in with your feedback.

    DDG for Founders CBS

He asked if I'd like anything else for it. (who would say no?) but I dont want to inadvertently go overboard and gouge him. Here's what I know: DDG released at about $40 + fees retail and CBS sold for $18 retail. CBS had a huge markup in some places, upwards of $40.

    BBW Vs OxiClean

I used oxiclean for a while. I prefer the ease of use with PBW. For me the convenience is worth forgoing the savings. Plus, if I get lazy and do an extended soak, no chalky residue to rinse with vinegar.
