    Beer is flat!

You can carb while fermenting, put it in a corny/sanke keg with a sounding valve and ferment under pressure. When it gets near the finish just set the spunding valve to the pressure you want it carbed to and let it finish, will be carbed when you serve it.

    Building a false bottom?

I used a grill grate with some ss nuts and bolts to keep it just above the element. I also recirculate throughout the mash and have heard of problems with the hole size in some baskets, don't have that problem with the grate.

I'll try for this one, thanks to Norcal Brewing for the great prizes.

    Kobalt Co2 regulator?

I have one and it works pretty good, just have to be careful setting the pressure. It came in handy when my big tank ran out and I didn't have time to get it filled for over a week, was still able to pour until I got the exchange. Around here the refill price at Dick's Sporting Goods is about...

    Pin-lock vs. ball-lock? What's the difference?

Pin locks are shorter and fatter than ball locks, parts are easy to find for either, pin locks are usually cheaper and they are both stainless so cleaning is same. You can mix styles easier with MFL fittings on the end of your lines. I made the move about a year ago and it has been great, so...

Great Fermentations monthly meeting ( Indy)

It's nice, has just about everything the main store has except for the classroom area. Have found what I was looking for every time I have been there.

    PET carboys

You use a bung with a drilled hole for a regular airlock, should be able to find them at any homebrew store.

    Which grains to buy

Thanks, forgot to mention that I have some Munich. Will have to pick up some MO, carafoam and maybe some different crystal. Looking forward to more brewing this fall now that I have a store 2 minutes from my house.:D

    Which grains to buy

My LHBS is having their grain sale and I picked up a bag of 2 row and some crystal 40. What I wanted to know is what else should I be looking at if I like IPA's, APA's, cream ales, ambers/reds and saison's? Also will make the occasional stout or porter but have plenty of roasted barley and...

    Simple cream ale thoughts

Thanks for the recommendations, changed it to a blonde style with a slight increase in the crystal and 5 minute hop additions. Also, this is for a 2.5 gallon batch and should yield an ABV of about 5%. Hopefully gonna brew it this weekend. Greg

    Flexible eBIAB Controller Help

I built my controller to run on 240 so that I could do the same, only have the smaller pot for now with a 3500 watt element. You don't really need the seperate control for the element because the pid should have a manual mode that will take care of that. I would think that any pump would fit...

    Hopology

I also thought the Dark Depths was good, but my favorite is the Grumpy Monk. It has a nice flavor and the hops are not overpowering like in some IPA's.

    90% done electric build

Looks good, wish I had an area like that to play in.

Does this have everything I need to start kegging?

I don't think the tank is optional, if you remove the tank they take $50 off the price. Yes it has everything you need to get started, the connectors are the main difference and that can be overcome by using swivel adapters instead of barbed connectors.

    E-BIAB finished and tested

Both side appear to be npt, the fittings came from brewhardware. Didn't have any leaks from the connections during the recirc or whirlpool.

    E-BIAB finished and tested

Here it is in action making an american pale ale, changed the brass valve to 3 piece ss. I am using a 3500 watt lwd element and the greatbreweh pump, everything went good for the first time. Was able to get to boiling from mash out temps in about 8 minutes, and chilled with IC that was half...

    E-BIAB finished and tested

Built a 2.5-4 gallon system based off of johnoden's build, just with a smaller element. Here are some of the finished pics, the square plug is for the power in and the round is to the pot. The last picture is a trial run with water and working on the autotune.

    Control panel wiring questions

Thanks, that will make wiring a little easier since the switches are above each other. Another question now, if I was to do this with the hot lines would I use only one fuse? Getting close, just waiting on a few more pieces.
