The shank attached to the hose will have to be cut off and the hose crimped onto the barb on the tower shank. I suppose you could replace the tower shank if you really want to use the threaded elbow.

I use a cheap ($15) ceramic heater that has a built in fan bought at wally world, seems to do a good job of keeping the temps up in my mini fridge when the temp gets to the single digits.

I have a home sewn bag that has handles and also a wilserbrewer bag without, and they are both easy to manage. After pulling the bag I place it in a mesh colander and squeeze and let it drain while it comes up to boil.

Mine is a few hundred yards from my back door, takes about 2 minutes to drive if the traffic is bad. Very lucky that they opened there, before that it was about 25 minute drive each way.

Northern Brewer sells a 3 gallon kit, but it doesn't include any fermenters or a BK. Probably cheaper to assemble one your self.
