    Cheap Expired Yeast-Canada

If I were sending them, the FDA would never have the foggiest idea I did so. Which is as it should be. But thanks for checking.

    BIAB Brewing (with pics)

I start with about 5.5 gallons. Come to think of it, my sparge is actually 2.5 gallons b/c i lose 1 gal to grain and i shoot to end up with 7 gallons preboil.

    BIAB Brewing (with pics)

i do BIAB and sparge. i just heat 2 gallons of water in a second pot, and after the mash is done, i pull the bag out and dunk it in the 2 gallons. Stir, wait 10 minutes, then dump those contents into the main kettle. i think it's pretty common to do this.

    Winter brewing

In my experience, it still takes a long time to get 5.5 gallons down to pitching temp with this method, due to the inefficiency of heat transfer. How long does it take you to get down to 65 deg? I love to brew in the winter in CT, but just haven't found a way to make the snow cooling work.

    Why BIAB?

I don't believe i understand. Getting more runnings costs me perhaps a nickel (if we want to be precise, but it's effectively zero), b/c it's putting another 2 gals of water on the stove still it hits 180 degrees. It costs me about 2 minutes, b/c that's how much of my time it takes to move the...

    Successful Dry Hopping Techniques?

my dry hops don't fall either.

    Why BIAB?

You can batch sparge with the 30 qt. I've done several 5 gal brews this way. You just need another decent sized pot to heat the sparge water while you're mashing in the 30 qt.

    94 percent efficiency?

I believe the solids would actually have to be *dissolved* (like sugars) in order to affect the gravity. Are there solids from the grain bed other than sugars which can be dissolved? I suspect there aren't enough there to affect the gravity, but that's from a relatively new brewer who hasn't...
