Sergio's World Beers - Over 1000 beers - Opening in Louisville, KY

oh ok cool. Yeah it will be nice to have them so close. Right now for that kind of beer selection I have to head over to richo's in New Albany. And don't get me wrong i LOVE richo's, just don't like the drive every time I want some decent beer. I actually recently found out that KBC (Ky BBQ...

    Magic Hat Fans...anyone...anyone?

Just picked up the magic hat Fall sampler for '09. It has their Fall '09 'Odd Notion' included in the pack. Just wondering if anyone else has tried this and what they thought of it. From the magic hat website the beer is a belgian chocolate stout. I didn't really care for it much upon the...

What to do with the trub...

I put it in a blender with some vanilla ice cream. Blend it up real nice and smoothe and then drink 'er down! I call it "The Trake". Of course if i'm not in the mood for "The Trake", I just dump them in my yard somewhere.

Sergio's World Beers - Over 1000 beers - Opening in Louisville, KY

So is Sergios open for business or what? Everytime I drive by there it doesn't look like anything is going on, but I keep hearing about people who have been there. A little confused over here.....

Sergio's World Beers - Over 1000 beers - Opening in Louisville, KY

They moved. I live just down the street from where they are opening. AND, whats really cool is that just a block up story ave. is My Old Kentucky Homebrew, Louisville's newest homebrew supply shop. We might need to change the name of butchertown to beertown!!

    After boil is done....?

Alrighty, here goes, probably the dumbest question you will deal with today.... After you are done boiling and the wort has cooled it's time to transfer to your primary. So do you A) Just use a funnel and dump everything into the fermenter? or do you B) Siphon from the brew pot to the...

    Brew House Kits

For cold crashing you could try submerging the fermentor into some cold water and letting it sit for a while. Fill up a plastic storage bin or something to that effect (maybe a big plastic trash can, etc..) and set the fermentor in it. I would say put enough water in so that when you put you...

    Beer flavored water

Wow man that's quite a system!! Very good idea though. The temp doesn't really fluctuate that much in our place right now, but as in your case, when the summer gets here i'm defenitly going to have to do something to keep the temp's constant during fermentation. The swamp cooler is probably...

    Beer flavored water

Well that's good because it was fermenting in the low to mid 60's most of the time. Unfortunately, I live in a apartment, and the only temperature control I have is the thermostat on my wall.....I know, it's lame. But we keep it pretty cool in the winter (struggling college students, can't...

    Beer flavored water

LOL!! Exactly!! Thanks for the good advice on waiting it out. I've just ordered a magic hat #9 clone from austin brew supply, so as soon as that arrives i will for sure have something else to keep me occupied.

    Beer flavored water

Yea it's definetly wierd. Ive checked to make sure that i'm not adding too much water or something really n00b like that, and i'm positive that i'm not. You mentioned that you fermented in the low to mid 70's. What would be the ideal temp for fermenting this style of brew?

    Beer flavored water

That could explain it right there. This is the second BB kit that i've used and I had similar results with the other one I did. That was an American Amber. Same thing as far as the after taste goes, almost none. Still trying to figure out if that is just a characteristic of homebrews...

    Beer flavored water

So let me start off by saying that I am brand new to home brewing, but I think I have a pretty good understanding of how it all works and the basic process of it all. I purchased a BB robust porter kit about 3 weeks ago, brewed it (everything went well), and bottled it after two weeks in the...

    Good Extract kits?

I'm an idiot, I thought you asked what kind of brew kits people used, not where they get them from. Sorry...:(

    Good Extract kits?

I've used brewers best kits a lot. Only because that's what I can get locally without having to pay for shipping and wait for it to get to me. All of the BB kits that i've made have turned out great. Brewers Best offers a pretty good selection of kits as well. The directions that come with...

    Ky Brewer!!

I live in a pretty small apartment so I am dealing with a limited space issue which only allows me to have 1 going at a time. Very lame. But I just got done bottling a BB Robust porter kit. I let it sit in the primary for almost three weeks, and was very happy with the sample I had while...
