Home Super Brewery Build: Hybrid Electric/Gas 3BBL Build

Is that like a sparge arm in the BK? I've never seen anything like that. Is it necessary for such large volume boils?

Questions About the Concord 100qt Kettle

Hi, So, I'm getting one of these for Christmas (back-ordered, late delivery). I was wondering if anyone is using one for a mash tun--and, if so--what size false bottom would I need to get for it? EDIT: Forgot to link the stock pot in question Concord 100qt Stock Pot EDIT 2: Found my answer in...

Hey, I'm super happy that Brewvana got funded. I saw your post two days too late on the Oregon forum about the kickstarter. I totally would've put up some money for that.

    My jug ate my bung

Try a drilled bung, they are generally too large to slip into a carboy and they have a lipped edge.

New RIMS brewer looking for parts help

I believe a 120v 2000w element would be sufficient for a 10 gallon batch. I'm going to be building a RIMs system soon and using a diagram very similar to the one I posted.

    apple ale/ graff

Not my thread, but stevehardt, I'd add the cider to the fermenter and blend it with the wort at pitching temperature. For a yeast I'd use an English ale yeast (example: White Labs WLP002). You generally don't want to boil cider as it will create pectin and make it near impossible to have a clear...

    Homebrew Competitions

Hey all, So I just went through my second competition and it went pretty well. I did notice a pattern though and I thought I'd see what other people thought. Like the first competition I entered, this one was hosted by a homebrew club. I've noticed in both that 60-80% of the medals go to...

Advice for first 10+ gallon batch?

Get a pump. That simple purchase almost made me cry from joy the first time I used it. Pump strike water to mash tun, vorlauf back into mash tun and then to bk, pump into fermenters. 10g x 8.33lbs/g gets awful hard on the back after a while.

Rubber plug fell into the carboy

That happened to me once. I switched to a drilled bung instead of a rubber stopper. Like so: You'd be hard pressed to push that into a carboy.
