    My Brutus finally done

This is based off of Lonnie's plans. I did however make some minor changes. I the length, width and height was made a little longer than the dimensions given. I decided to not use a Therminator. I may revisit this later. Instead, I went with a Jamil-O-Chiller I made the control box so that...

    My Brutus finally done

Thank you. I treated it as such. I just took my time and let it be. I am bummed that I can't take the credit on the pump cover. It is awesome though. Thanks! Thank you very much. All I know is that it is a Milk Fermenter. I gathered some parts off of Ebay to round out the clovers. The...

    My Brutus finally done

Burgs, It's a Jamil-O-Chiller (immersion chiller). I basically took the one sold by Midwest Supplies (on sale) and added a 3/8" Stainless Steel racking cane and bent it so that the wort can recirculate in a whirlpool. I can be friends with most anyone....

    Rust in new keggle/Help!

Could also use Naval Jelly too. I used this to repassivate my stainless. Works great. :rockin: John Palmer mentioned it on Brew Strong for repassivating stainless. He said once the oxidation (rust) had been removed, just let it become exposed to the air and it will passivate. As mentioned...

    My Brutus finally done

After eating peanut butter sandwiches all winter to get this thing done, I can now go out to dinner, and my wife can finally stop whining so much. :cross: I have to thank Lonnie for the inspiration to build it, and to all others that I have stolen a design element or two from in order to create...

Blichmann Engineering "set-it-and-forget-it design" Auto Sparge?

I am in the testing phase now of my Brutus clone and have a Blichmann Autosparger installed. I'm curious if anyone else has mounted the device into the lid vertically instead of horizontally into the side of the kettle? I hate the idea of punching another hole in the side of my MT. I hooked...

    Stainless Camlocks review

I just went to Lowes and found Drinking Water Hose Washers that are the exact dimensions as the camlock washers I gave in my last post. I replaced one and it was a perfect fit. I found these in the plumbing section. Just ask them for hose washers. They came in a bag of 6 for 98 cents and were...

    Epic/Idiotic BrewDay - 3 batches, flying solo

The furthest I've ran was 64 miles (slightly longer than a 100k.) Been to 50+ miles a few times. Most of my training runs are 20+, my longest training run was a 42 miler. I attempted Javelina Jundred (100 miler) last October and had to drop out at 51 miles due to a back injury. My little...

    Stainless Camlocks review

I have the 1/2" Pro-Flow SS fittings too. I just measured the seal with a dial caliper. The measurements are: outside diameter: 1.040" inside diameter: .570" Thickness of material: .145" I know Sears Hardware & Lowes has Silicone O-Rings, not sure if Homer Depot does. I'm glad I read...

dcHokie - I see you are another runner/brewer like me. Thought I was the only one. My self, I'm an Ultrarunner. Unlike you though, I am slow as dirt. Good for you. :mug:

    DIY Stubborn

I am the same way. I am one of those guys that has to do everything himself. It always gets me in trouble. I end up with way too many projects started and none of them fully finished. I just built a fermentation chamber and it works great. The trouble is, I have yet to put the finishing touches...

How to seal fermentation cabinet doors?

Great Job on the fermenter. There should be some type of door weather stripping you could use in that application.

    Not happy with Bayou Classic

Sorry to hear that. I have the 62 qt and have not had any issues. Like you said, I don't like how thin the metal is. Luckily my welder was able to weld my fittings on though.

    Fermentation Chamber Heater

I think this is a great idea really. Like you said: Low heat, built in fan, GFCI breaker.

    Things we hate?

+1 on the tea break. Other than that, English people are alright. I hate -my In-Laws...especially when they: eat with their mouths wide open -so nauseating ask me the same stupid F***ing question repeatedly treat me like a 6 year old -I don't need an Easter Basket with coloring books...
