    Large format bottles

Well, bigger is better for long term, yes? I was thinking for Xmas many years away, or wedding maybe...

    Large format bottles

So, a 3 liter of Double Bastard just showed up at work, and it has me wondering...anyone ever bottle a barleywine or other strong, age worthy beer in one of these bad boys ( or larger)? I'm thinking of trying to find an empty one cheap to bottle something crazy in and age it for several years....

    What are you drinking now?

Coffee for breakfast...when I get home tonight, probably pop this years Backwoods Bastard before cellaring the other 3

12 gallon carboy fermenter - really

This is cool on its own, but the idea of a solera style house lambic is f***ing awesome!!!

I think they're hot, but you probably don't

I looked this up once after debating it with SWMBO...if the Internet is to be trusted, it's a legit accent/dialect. She's from an Italian neighborhood of a French-Canadian burb or some such thing, and they supposedly all talk that way....which is a scary thought...

Commercial beers that let you down?

PtE, most everything from DFH, Bourbon County are the big ones....the gluten free from Alchemist also, but less so than the others...I guess I was just hopeful that the awesomeness would translate to a GF beer

    winter sickness cure?

I usually bitch and moan, and drink a hot toddy...or maybe a barleywine....but I like your method a lot better :-)

    Battle over the "strange" name

Sad, really. Met the owner at Blues N' Brews a few times over the years, seemed like a nice dude....greed is a terrible thing. And to answer the above question about beer names, Russian River and Avery both had a beer named Salvation. Rather than cause each other grief, the brewed...

    Wet shaving thread.

So, it isn't so much that we don't go against the grain, it's how we do it. In general, I do 2 passes with the grain, 1 across the grain in both directions, then once against. By that time you're just cleaning up and should be pretty happy with the shave!

My Beer dispensing using a soda machine....

That's pretty clever! Great bit of DIY, I'd say. What'd you pay for that beast, if I may ask?

    Wet shaving thread.

I should add that I use a safety razor not a straight. No money to really get into straights!

    Wet shaving thread.

Personally, I dislike shavettes. I find that they tug and nick a lot and give a generally unpleasant shave. SE razors are so good because, by their nature, they're slightly less sharp and aggressive than a DE blade in that setup. +1 on the razor older than me, but I'm only 23! The razor...

Yet another "check my DIPA" thread

Thanks! I actually switched over to gem from NZ, but otherwise it's the same, so we'll see why happens!

best beer you have ever tasted

Lawson's Finest Liquids Hopzilla, found in VT the day after my 23rd birthday, after a Primus concert in Burlingon, drunk from a little plastic water cup in my hotel room. Unideal conditions leading to the greatest hop experience ever. Followed it with Hill Farmstead Arthur for good measure...

Does this look better? Was thinking with WLP090 or WLP001

Yet another "check my DIPA" thread

Wasn't planning on dry hopping as its only a 2gal test batch. Once I like the base recipe, I'll go to 5gal and dry hop it.

Yet another "check my DIPA" thread

This is my very very first shot at writing a recipe. I'd be much obliged if someone who knows about such things would offer advice! It's a "teabag" extract brew, btw. Here goes: 1.5# 2 row .5# British mild 3# light dme .5oz cascade (60 min) .5oz chinook (60 min) .1oz chinook (45 min) .5oz...
