    WTB: 3 Gallon Carboys (SoCal)

Yes, I have three of the 3 gallon glass carboys, want to sell them all together and only an "in person" deal as I do not want to deal with shipping, thus the $60 deal for all three.

    WTB: 3 Gallon Carboys (SoCal)

I actually have three of them I'd like to get rid of... $25 each or all 3 for $60. I'll be down in Placentia on Saturday and we could arrange for you to pick them up then. In person only, no shipping!

41F to 57F too low to start brewing?

One thing some people use is a container of water that your fermenter can sit in with an aquarium heater heating the water to your desired fermentation temperature. This will help you brew ales when the ambient temperatures are that low...

IIPA: To age or not to age?

If you only plan on aging for about a month then I say go for it, a little extra conditioning would probably be good. You might not want to age a double IPA for long term but most of the ones you buy commercially are at least a couple weeks to a month old due to the time it takes the brewery to...

Kegerator- What's cheaper in the long run in regards to parts

If your refrigerator will hold 4 kegs then make sure you measure the placement for 4 taps, you may only want two now but you'll want all four flowing eventually and you'll want the taps evenly spaced on your fridge. You can just order two tap setups now and can easily put in others one at a time.

    Fridge or Chest Freezer?

Go chest freezer, more efficient. They won't run as much as a refrigerator as they are designed to maintain temps much colder than what you'll use for your beer. Another plus is that when you open the freezer you won't lose all the cold air inside since the cold air is heavier than warm air...

    HOT***cheap 2 and 4 way regulators on ebay--(i bought the 3 way)

Yes, these still require a primary regulator. You can then run a single line to these "secondary" regulators from that and run separate kegs at different pressures.

    Fermentation chamber: frost-free necessary? Advised?

The shelves in a frost free are easy to remove giving you the space you need for fermenters. I'd skip using an upright that isn't frost free unless you are comfortable bending the refrigeration tubes that are on the underside of the shelves. Those things can crimp or break pretty easy and...

can I use munich as a base grain?

Have a keg of a Munich SMaSH in my kegerator right now, actually a 3.4% session beer and it is pretty tasty stuff...

    This manifold build ok?

I'd replace at least 3/4 of the flexible tubing with the CPVC and cut some slots in that as well. You can still use the flexible tubing for the last few inches and it will allow for your recessed drain. If you leave the long length of flexible tubing you are running the risk of knocking it...

Have any of you made the stone smoked porter from BYO?

Made this with some maple smoked grains as I didn't have access to peat smoked when I brewed. Added 1.5 ounces vanilla extract when I kegged and it came out great! Not as smokey as Stone's Smoked Porter due to the different grains I used but one of my better brews so far.

    No Chill Experiment

Brewed up a No-Chill Cascade Pale Ale about a month ago and it turned out nice. I did end up dry hopping it with some additional Cascade as I didn't take into account the late addition hops sitting at near boiling temps for an extended time. Cube hopping next time... Used the US-05 yeast...

    02 aeration (oxygenation?)

You'll also need a stainless aeration/diffusion stone to attach to the end of the hose in the wort. The stone will break up the oxygen into very tiny bubbles and allow it to be absorbed by the wort more easily. Without the stone on the end of the hose you'll end up wasting a lot of O2.

Topping up boil volume with water?

If you add water before or after the boil to get your final 5 gallon amount you will end up with the same beer. If you boil down 6 gallons to 5 or if you boil 5 down to 4 and add 1 gallon you should end up with the same S.G.
