    iBrewmaster vs. Beersmith2

You software engineers/developers always say that :p ...its the web developers and designers that prefer macs over PCs because they can actually handle the load we throw at them :D

    NanoBrewery build

Just thought of something...since the PET bottles are more expensive, maybe offer some sort of "discount" for hikers that show you a park pass (you have to get one a yosemite right?) Or maybe some sort of "discount" from their next purchase if they bring back the PET bottles they just used...

    NanoBrewery build

I'd offer both to be honest. - PET for the hikers who want some craft beer on the trail and glass for when they come back and wanna take a 6 pack (or case) home with them! The park doesn't allow glass right? Most parks don't - that's where you'd make your money on the PET containers (and their a...

    wort chilling idea

yea, i realize that, but its still a cool idea lol...maybe he could pour in some liquid nitrogen :p

    wort chilling idea

I'll bite! What if you did this instead: Add a ball valve to your boil kettle - from there you could use a piece of thick walled silicon tubing which would go to a piece of copper or SS tubing of equal diameter (you'll have to have a piece of silicon tubing on both ends of course). The metal...

    Honey Suckle Ale

Awesome, thanks for the tip...I'll definitely try playing with that...unfortunately I might not be able to do it before they die off for the fall/winter so I'll make sure to make this a spring beer.

    Honey Suckle Ale

So I have a decent amount of honey suckle growing in my yard. Ever since I started brewing I've thought of making some sort of honey suckle ale...any one have any suggestions - would it even work? I've seen other people made wine with it...just curious if it'd be worth doing it with beer.

    Adding some more keezer love

There's gotta be over 100 threads on keezer builds...so i figured, hell, why not another one! I just recently decided i wanted to start kegging (tired of bottling 2+ cases at a time) and of course i had to make a good looking keezer (with coffin) to go with it...My main issue with most coffin...

    iBrewmaster vs. Beersmith2

I use beersmith on my macbook pro...I've looked into BeerAlchemy and iBrewmaster but it just looks so cluttered - there's practically no UI there, just lists. Personally, I don't have a real need for using these programs on my mobile device (except for a shopping list - which i throw in my...

Lauter Tun Help (Bazooka Screen )

Bazooka screens aren't nearly as thin as the SS screens. They let a lot more tannins through, so you have to make up for that with a couple extra vorlaufs

Lauter Tun Help (Bazooka Screen )

I know, I'm using a bazooka too. Like i said, i vorlauf about 5 quarts I also mill my own grain using my carona mill

Lauter Tun Help (Bazooka Screen )

Honestly, since i've started batch sparging i just open the valve about 3/4 of the way and let it go. In theory, the slower you let it drain the less likely it'll clog/let husks through. When i used to fly sparge i'd open maybe 1/4 of the way and usually only had to vorlauf maybe 2 or 3...

Lauter Tun Help (Bazooka Screen )

of course, i know a lot of people use em...it'll still affect your OG though (because it was ground thin not because of the husks)

Lauter Tun Help (Bazooka Screen )

Gotta do more than that - i always vorlauf about 5 or 6 times, even with the SS braid i had. did you grind the grain yourself? maybe its a bit too thin?

Lauter Tun Help (Bazooka Screen )

i just recently switched to using a bazooka screen in my mash tun (used the SS braid method before) and i have to say i love it. I recently did a batch of witbier and after vorlaufing came out as clear as my previous set up.
