    The [Horribly Unpopular] Soccer Thread

Talk about a tale of two halves... Donovan looks old. Dempsey while "trying ****" as a Bruce would say is way too casual for my liking. Bradley and Beckerman should be the starting midfield pair in my book. J Jones can stay in Turkey for all I care. I'm afraid it's going to be a quick 3 and...

Beer to serve with flourless chocolate cake

I'm serving fresh strawberries with it. There's no glaze, reduction or sauce with it. I picked a bottle of Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout to go with it. I'm the only beer guy so I thought I'd buy that since I love that beer and it's been awhile since I've had it. I'll try to post photos of the...

DuClaw - A New Take On The Trademark Problem

I have nothing constructive to add other than I love Left Hand beers so I support them for no other reason than that. But it sure seems like DuClaw is acting a tad bitchy and it's ironic given some of their beer names. Also, their whole art style gimmick seems childish. Therefore I dismiss...

Beer to serve with flourless chocolate cake

A flourless chocolate cake is far from sweet. It's dark, intense, bitter, rich and a little on the heavy side. I want the beer to stand up to it and not take a back seat. There are some great suggestions so far. Keep them coming! Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Beer to serve with flourless chocolate cake

I'm heading to some friends house this weekend and we typically drink a lot when we get together. Bourbon, vodka and red wine are the usual suspects. However, I'm a beer guy first and foremost and since I'm in charge of dessert, I'm bringing the booze to serve with it too. I'm making a...

    Am I a bad person?

Are you a regular customer there? I'd go with this approach. "Hey LBHS guy, I can buy X product online for this cost and Y product online for this cost which is a few bucks cheaper than your price but I'd rather keep my business with you. Any chance you can match that for me?" If it's a good...

    Brew Day, with pictures

Bacon is obviously pretty greasy/oily and it seems like anything with high fat content makes the beer basically slick. I wonder how the commercial guys do it? I imagine it's a bacon extract or something similar. I looked at my kitchen hardware last night and I've for a 10qt stock pot that...

    Brew Day, with pictures

Great thread. What was the total amount of grain you used for this? I'm planning some 1 gal stovetop BIAB batches and don't want to use my 8 gal kettle. I'm not sure if I have a pot big enough besides my kettle though. Another question, 60 min boil? And finally how did the beer turn out? I...

    Denver area to live

I love Castle Rock but I've got two young kids and my wife so it's perfect for us. It's heavy on families and kids. The recreation part is great as well. I can be on miles of mountain bike trails in five minutes. Plus commuting I-25 is great. But many in Denver think CR is basically as far as...

BIAB 2.5 Gallon Batches - Brew Pot Size

I've got an 8gal kettle and I do 3gal BIAB. My starting volume is around 5.5 gallons and my pot is plenty big. I haven't had any boil over issues. But I'll be moving outdoors as well since my electric glass cooktop can't bring that much liquid to a good boil. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Palmdale/Lancaster Brewpubs

Do you have the find craft beer app? I use it all the time. My condolences for having to be in Palmdale on the weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Mini fridge fermentation chamber/kegerator

I'm not sure how you make two chambers in a mini fridge that will fit two corny legs plus ferment? You planning to do this simultaneously? That's a huge mini fridge... I built a ferm chamber with a tiny mini fridge by taking the door off and building a cabinet from rigid insulation that the...

    Denver area to live

Being a semi recent transplant from SoCal, traffic is a non issue. My commute from Castle Rock to the Lowry neighborhood is 25 miles and usually 30-35 min only because of surface streets for a good portion of the trip. You mention craft beer as if it'll be your profession; are you opening or...

    Perlick 525 SS faucet leaks

Where does yours leak from? Is it where the gasket connects to the shank? I have some 525's that leak there, more like explode from there and I've left the beer line disconnected for that reason. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    The [Horribly Unpopular] Soccer Thread

By happy you mean that Seattle managed to make it into the playoffs even though they went winless in their last seven matches after getting destroyed by LA in the final match??? As we said in LA for many a year, fuera Sigi.

    Sulfur in kegged Saison

I tried a sample of a saison I brewed last night that is kegged. It had a fairly strong sulfur aroma and a slight sulfur taste but it was hard to tell if it was funk from the saison. I brewed this batch on 9/28, had two weeks in the fermenter and kegged it this past Sunday 10/13. I'm thinking...

Is being an extract brewer such a bad thing?

Jamil went on a mini rant at the end of the brewcasters challenge on the Sunday Session last week about AG/extract. He brewed an extract beer and went on about those who bag on extract are essentially ignorant. His big thing is that so many home brewers end up adding more control in fermentation...
