CO2 Tank - Export / Import to Canada

Thanks - I checked ontariobeerkegs first and they were quite expensive for shipping which made going from the states an easier choice. I hadn't heard of hopdawgs before and am just going to check them out now.

CO2 Tank - Export / Import to Canada

Thats what I ended up doing - I live close enough to the border that it doesn't really matter to drive to pick something like that up (I save more in shipping then I'd spend in gas). It is crazy how expensive these tanks are up here in Canada (makes you wonder). But being from Canada and a...

CO2 Tank - Export / Import to Canada

Not sure what to tell you here. I've heard that if a CO2 tank doesnt have transport canada stickers or a particular valve on it its hard to get it across the border. Since I only plan on doing a few kegs of soda I figured that 5 lb tank is as good of a start as anything. King

CO2 Tank - Export / Import to Canada

Bit the bullet and bought the 5lb'er --- I think its a pretty okay start to home kegging my own soda!! If you are interested this guy ships to canada pretty reasonably and you will end up owning your own tank. I live close to the US so I just had it shipped to my PO BOX...

CO2 Tank - Export / Import to Canada

Thanks for the sympathy.....I think i found a good deal for a 5LB bottle on EBAY. Seems like a great deal at less than 100$. Since i'm only doing cornies of root beer I think I should be okay with that for now. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/140726259796?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

CO2 Tank - Export / Import to Canada

Thanks Brewser....these guys came in pretty reasonable. They wanted 85$ / year for lease and then ~60$ every time i brought in a 20LB bottle to refill. Not bad but still not my own tank.

CO2 Tank - Export / Import to Canada

HEY CRZ!! what a nasty position to be in. I don't know where you are from but around here its pretty slim pickins for things. I'm scared to order across the border for the cylinder as I've heard that the border guard can seize your tanks if they dont meet transport canada requirements or...

    Corny Chargers

I'm wondering if anyone has tried one of these and if it would be even worth the effort.... http://www.homebrew-supplies.ca/viartshop/product_details.php?category_id=61&item_id=816 seems kinda tiny to charge 5 gallons or is this more meant for dispensing?

CO2 Tank - Export / Import to Canada

So - I called a few welding places and an air gasses shop... I got quotes that would shock most people i'm sure. I'm getting quoted 260$ for a filled 10LB tank.... Maybe forced carb is not the way to go. I just dont think I can afford that. If anyone has any better ideas i'm all ears.

CO2 Tank - Export / Import to Canada

Sorry if this was asked and answered - I couldn't find a concrete answer in the search. Does anyone know if I can order a CO2 tank from one of our american vendors and then bring that bottle uncharged across the border to Canada? Seems the prices for some of these tanks are quite a bit...

    New Kegs now what

Yes it is nice to say that but I live in Canada and its a pain to pay for shipping. I know i could do border storage but still the time it takes to get to the border and then get it back ends up costing me more!!! I guess it really depends on how much I want one eh....... :drunk:

    New Kegs now what

well crap and beans......I cant find a CO2 tank anywhere. I tried with the local welding places but they want an arm and a leg plus yearly maintenance costs; I checked with coke and pepsi same deal......Where do people get their co2 tanks anyway?

    New Kegs now what

going to buy 1x10LB tank......There is a fire safety place in my hometown that can fill CO2 and we also have a paintball outfitter that I'm sure could fill the tank as well. Pretty sure that even tho i'm from canada the attachments should be the same ....... right? lol

    New Kegs now what

Good news, like I said is that I'm headed to Montana this weekend and am headed to the LHBS in Great Falls. Hopefully i'll be able to find some of the things I need at a reasonable price.....SWMBO doesnt appreciate that I have expensive hobbies (guns, ammo, computers and tech, now soda). oh...

    New Kegs now what

nope not yet..... I am also trying to find a CO2 tank. the only place in my neck of the woods wants me to pay 85$ / year to lease the tank and then 52$ per fill (basically every time I bring it in to get a new bottle I pay 52$ and then 85$ / year for that priv). !$!%!(&@$

    New Kegs now what

Thanks everyone for the information - I am hoping to replace the seals here soon and find a CO2 bottle this weekend in Montana (when I go across the border). I'm pretty excited to get going on my first recipe for forced carbonation. King

    New Kegs now what

LOL...I'm a bit of newb when it comes to using KEGS. I'm looking at the o-rings and such and they all seem in great condition, the popups ?? look new and the posts for the connectors also appear really new. The only thing I'm looking at now is some of the wash you mentioned before, some hose...

    New Kegs now what

Thanks for the reply. I've noticed that in both of my kegs I have the dip tube. If I'm going to be doing soda can I take it out or should I leave it in regardless of what i'm making? I'm pretty stoked to finally do forced carbination...........
