    Vanilla Porter

    I make vanilla porters all the time. It's my favorite to brew and drink. I add 2 cut and scraped beans to the secondary. I use vodka to sanitize the beans.

    I would start kegging first. Then save up for all grain equipment and there are some things on your list you can make yourself to save money

    Need help cooling wort!

    +1 I agree. I have a 25' chiller. Last night I chilled 5 gallons to 70 degrees in less then 20 min. Try stirring the chiller while in the liquid. Seems to help drop the temp quicker.

    I tried to lager before I knew how to and it came out awful. That's the only batch I had to dump. Still have nightmares about it :)

    Drilled wrong spot in keg

    I have never used one on a keg but I figure it will work. Look up online quick seal stainless plug. There is a lock washer on one side and a gasket on the other. You may want the gasket in the outside I'm not sure what it's made of ( in case it has something in it you don't want in your beer)

    Star-San

    I had to replace my entire kitchen counter top. I left the star San bottle on it with some of the liquid around the bottom. It left stains all over. My wife got her granite counter tops after all. Needless to say I brew and sanitize in the garage now!
