    Slippery bung syndrome

I swear I was thinking about duct tape! I was wore out from doing two mashes, rehydrating yeast, and all the rest that goes with it. But i got lucky and it finally held on.

    Slippery bung syndrome

I tried the paper towel trick, but it still slipped. It felt tight like it was starting to bite, then it would slowely slide up. Slowly driving me insane. My wife was laughing at me and that didnt help either.

    Slippery bung syndrome

I was thinking about going that route too. I will look into it.

    Worst Brew Day Ever

I hate flies. I was outside brewing all day yesterday and the flies were out in force.

    Slippery bung syndrome

I started to lose it and almost lost the bung in the neck. All at once instead of pushing it out, i pushed too far and it tried to suck it all the way in. I was at my wits end.

    Slippery bung syndrome

I did two brews yesterday. All went well up until I went to put the last bung in the fermenter and....20 minutes later I am still twisting and turning and the bung keeps slipping. Finally, the beer Gods smiled down on me and it stayed down. Long day.

    Cidery tasting beer!!!

I made the 38DD fermenter cooler. It was easy, cheap, and I don't worry about fermenter temps anymore. Its a cheap investment for quality control.

    Cracked airlock

Thanks guys, i will try the hot water on the bung idea. I Just never broke them before and then I had two in a row. I guess my 12 oz. Curles are paying off!

    Cracked airlock

I picked up mine from morebeer.

    Cracked airlock

Twice this month I have cracked the bottom of the 3 piece airlock trying to pull the bung off. I know they are inexpensive, but I have never had this problem before. Just wondering if China has compromised their super high quality or if i'm being too rough?

    American Porter Imperial Honey Porter

I brewed this back in february and just opened my first bottle. my final gravity was a bit high so the ABV is 9%. It is full of flavor and easy to drink. by far the best porter I have had. Thanks for the recipe! This is a dangerous beer.

    Dumped batches.

I dumped a cherry stout. I should have only used the fresh cherries but decided to add cherry extract. The cherry was so strong instead of beer it was really a room freshener. That was about ten years ago and it still bothers me when I think about it.

    Thermistor

It was a soliloquy(strangly appropriate use of the word), but really I was just making a joke because I had no takers on my thermistor question.

    Thermistor

No difference really. I was just looking for something I could pick up from home depot that would work. The CT31A had a thermistor that was easy to solder and only cost 20 bucks. How has the cooler worked for you?

    Thermistor

Hi stocktonbrew, the RTH111b is not an easy thermostat for the 38DD application. The CT31A by honeywell is a better choice. You can mount the RTH111b inside the cooler, or you can easily solder the thermistor on the CT31A and tape to your carboys, then mount the controller on the outside of the...

    Thermistor

hello all, i am building the 38DD fermentor cooler. I bought a Honeywell RTH111B thermostat. Does anyone know were the thermistor is? If not do you know of a thermostat that is easily modified and available?
