    Sure you can do just that. What I like about the collection ball is that all the trube settles there during fermentation. Makes it easy to separate.

    One of the users on the facebook group also had this happen to him. I think its a production flaw. The first one I assumed like you that I had overtightened. The second I doubt it. it was stored in my gear box waiting to be used. I sent a message to their website. I suggest you do the same.

    Any one else have an issue with the collection balls breaking? So far I have 2 that broke in the same location. Where the threads meet the thicker neck of the ball.

    I use a 20 gal pot. gives me the flexibility to brew larger batches when I want to. but I find that I boil off too much of my 5 gallon recipes...

    Actually the short one is designed to fit in a refrigerator. In order to rack I have to put mine up on a work table.

    Does adding the wire to the outside of the tube really help that much? I made mine years ago without that wire, it cools adequately. I wonder if its worth it to add the wire to a new cooler when its time to replace this one. Any data to compare?

    The connections on terminals 7 and 8 are switched. It may be possible that the relay is stuck and not opening when the controller reaches its set point. Do you have a volt ohm meter?
