    PID question

It is normal to have an open circuit. Why would the PID close the contacts calling for heat; when it doesn't know (NO THERMOCOUPLE) what the current temp is? The PID should be displaying a no thermocouple error of some kind. If possible, purchase an RTD?

    Lots Of Crap In Kettle

You need a finer mesh bag (voil) or consider recirculating. I continuously recirc with a more open mesh bag and the wort is crystal clear. I adjust my crush for ~75 percent efficiency. Just turn the PID and pump on and have a pint.

    Shawano county brewers?

Nice, I'm a few miles from Gresham. PM me if you'd be interested in trying a homwbrew or doing a brew?

Whirl pooling low or high output

Read the description more closely. The difference is the elevation of the port in relation to the vessel (pot); not the orifice. You could trim the tube to change that. On my 15 gallon Pollarware, 6 " from the bottom is the sweet spot. The high port option does not require a valve.

    eBIAB users BIAB Mesh/Voil question.

I feel your pain. I have been doing BIAB for over a year now and have found that voil does NOT work with continuous recirculation. I ended up purchasing some mesh from McMaster Carr and have had no stuck sparges since.

    How much have you spent?

The mods should delete this thread and we will never speak of this again. IMO, brewing is like driving a Ferrari; you don't even look at the price of gas.

Recirculating Dry Hops: More Aroma Oil Extraction in Less Time

I have been doing this (torpedoing -Sierra Nevada) for almost 2 years now. ALL of my hope bombs get it now. It works great. I use a whole house water filter and recirc the wort in the keg.

Wisconsin 2) 6.5 gl glass carboys

I have two 6.5 gallon carboys for sale or trade. They have handles and stoppers with 1/2" silicon hose. I calibrated them for gallon increments (etching cream) on the outside. I store them in the boxes they came in. Edit: I got scolded about the no silent auction thing. I just didn't know...

Recipe help - Elder clone (sort of)

I would move the 30 minute addition to FO and increase the 60 min to maintain the overall IBUs. I think a sound fermentation would/should result in a lower FG, >= 1.014. I do believe you will regret not brewing more. Have you thought about a 20 minute boil? Check that option out. I have been...

    WTB -Ventmatic Faucet

Thanks for your prompt reply. I contacted CHI and the guy I talked to said it would be some time before they would be available again. According to him, Ventmatic has a new design, but is currently in testing and applying for a patent. So, I'm hoping someone has an "older/original" unit they...
