    My First Hard Cider

The Wal Mart juice is 100% juice, with only ascorbic acid (vitamin C) as a preservative. For a 5 gallon batch, I added one pound of corn sugar and one pound of brown sugar dissolved in a quart of water to up the ABV some. That, some Montrachet yeast, force carb it, and it is a continual hit...

    My First Hard Cider

Honestly, I have had great luck with Wal-Mart juice. That tap was the most popular one in the kegerator over the holidays!

    Supplies in chicago

Brew N Grow is a good choice, huge selection and good prices. I work in the burbs, but live just over the line in Wisconsin. Northern Brewer is only a 45 minute drive for me, with a great selection, as well.

    AG Busch Lite

I have made BM's C of 3 Crops for cookouts and parties with friends with good luck. Most of the population was raised with, and enjoys, the typical BMC offerings. I brew what they like, along with what I like. Good food, good beer, and good times. Don't judge them, occasionally you can...

Another brew stand - 10 months in the making

Fine job, this is a project for next year, so I may steal some design ideas, as well. Now I just need to learn to TIG weld......

Thinking about buying a BGE, is pricing really fixed?

Not knocking the BGE, but I was able to find a "Large Avocado Kamodo" (that's not ripping off their name at all, is it?) at Menards, which is a local big box home improvement store in the Midwest. Same construction, far as I could tell, and the same insides. I was able to find it on clearance...

How many gallons of EdWort's Apfelwein have been made?

+3 24,656. That tap seems quite popular. Immediately followed by "You're putting this in your Christmas Sixers, right?"

Best bottled water for AG brewing

Wal-Mart RO'd drinking water. At 88 cents a gallon, it doesn't add a huge amount to the brew. I have a well, and things seem to vary from season to season. At least that is consistent, and I have one less variable to keep track of.

Brewing the beer for a Company BBQ, what should I brew?

Your house pale ale and Centennial Blonde would probably cover most people. Good luck!

Not your typical wedding beer question

I have to agree with everyone else. Keep it simple, crisp and clean for the crowd. I did a party to introduce a crowd of people to homebrew, so I brewed 5 different beers. Not surprisingly, the cream ale went well, but what suprised me was that the keg of my amber almost kicked in a few...

    west chicago burbs CO2 refill

I use Airgas, although it's the one in Crystal Lake. Good folks, friendly and a decent price.

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

I do have to agree that while it may not be the most "exciting" brew, it is a good one for the "non-believers" at parties. I did sub in a pound of Vienna, though for a little more color and flavor....

if 90% are extract brewing. why the sudden rush to all grain ?

I do all grain for flexibility and variety. I think you will find most of the "Oh, I want to make that!" recipies (especially here) will be all grain. Yes, it's cheaper, too; I can do a fairly light, simple beer for around 20 bucks or so. I do, however, still like extract for time savings...
