Agree with try not to have it too cloying sweet. I have some homebrew bottles left to drink like that. But I do like some Golden Promise for this style.
My favorite tasting of a Wee heavy was in Philly made by I think Philadelphia Brewing way back which went out of business.
I think the brewer...
Recently made a Kolsch and during transfer to corney keg I seen this bug. I don't know how it got in primary bucket as it was closed lid.
It wasn't floating but half way down clinging to bucket which gave me concern it got in during the finished wort transfer from the boil.
I hoped it got...
Where I'm at in Pa. the sun has been intense and had to start picking several variaties turning brown all of a sudden.
Mostly the first shoots that went up, followers still green. Pretty early picking but that's climate for ya.
I brewed yesterday to try using up some whole hops. I have one large paint bag for the hops in the boil. I normally use pellets for bittering I just toss in the boil, but used the bag for bittering with some whole hops. I decided to remove the bittering whole hops after 40 min of a 60 boil and...
I think you're right. I've done the floss in the past with decent results. I haven't lubed the lid 0 ring in a while. Probably the cause.
Hopefully no.3 isn't the white flecks I see floating on top of my Juice yeast I harvested in bucket. I've used it a number of times and it smells ok and...
I'm thinking maybe putting on a tight O ring around the bottom of the lids release valve and tie the floss to it.
Or a hose clamp maybe?
Things go in 3's they say.
First, leak in keg.
Yesterday found a damn mouse ate about a pound of base malt from a sack. Put out traps and got the fat bastid...
Well since this has happened to me once too many times, I am done with it.
When dryhopping in a corney, I put one small marble in the bag with hops. I use thin dental floss to tie it and have the floss come thru the corney opening. Normally after pressurizing, there is no leak. I give ample...
Welcome to the club. After it happened to me once, someone suggested with the amount of CO2 going you can just leave the lid on not closed with infection risk low. That's what I do if by chance my headspace is low. I put bucket in a pan to catch overspill if needed and something light to weigh...
I brew out in garage all year. Love the cold ground water temp cooling brew down fast. Only thing is below freezing watching out for creating ice. I look ahead for the warmest sunny day coming.
Will be drinking variety of home brews NYE made over past year.
Brewing last 2 batches of the year today. An english ale and a honey bock for Easter.
Cheers to a better year ahead.
