Does this seem right? Hop harvest.

I recently harvested the hops off of my nugget plant. I only got 1 oz. of dried hops total off of the plant. It is only two years old now. Does this seem about right for my plant. Here are the details of how it is grown. I live in Maryland first of all to give you an idea of the climate zone it...

    Dead flies on hops???

No, I don't spray my hops with anything but a strong blast of water from time to time to knock off some bugs. I try to keep them as organic as possible. Maybe they are toxic to flies as well. It sure is interesting.

    Dead flies on hops???

I don't understand why the die on the hops. Are the hops toxic to them or do they choose to die on the hops?

    Dead flies on hops???

In recent days here in Maryland I have been checking on my nugget hops to make sure they are budding well and getting enough water. It is now early July and I have recently notice green flies on my hops. I thought they were alive at first and proceeded to flick them off. They would not budge. I...

My first run with my all electric brewery

It's not so bad. But, if you know where to find some decent priced cam locks I would like to know where to get some.

My first run with my all electric brewery

The bayou classic pots are great for their price but they are not as robust as the boilmaker kettles. If price is an issue go with the bayou classic kettles. They are still a great stainless steel pot and drill easier than the heavy duty kettles. I have used my bayou classic boil kettle for...

Help me rethink the glass carboy

Thanks for the insight. I did think of having something similar to BetterBottle's rotating racking cane on the back of the valve. I still don't know if this is even possible to do. Just an idea as of right now.

Help me rethink the glass carboy

Hello everybody. I have come to you for some help and opinions. I recently had an idea for a new style of fermentor. The idea came from my wife's tea jug. I thought, "Hmmm, that might make a great primary fermentor if it where only bigger." So, let's discuss first the pros and cons of a glass...

    Spa panel or not?

It's been a while since I updated what I decided to go with. I bought a 50A spa panel from HD and wired up a 30A receptacle on it. I added about 20 feet of 10/4 portable cable to it and attached a 30A plug to the cable. I plug the spa panel into my 30A dryer outlet and then plug my control...

    GFCI high current donut?

While searching for gfi breakers for my system I came across this link. http://www.spadepot.com/shop/GFCI-High-Current-Donut-P9733C193.aspx Has anybody tried to use this as a panel mounted gfci? If so, how hard is it to wire up in the enclosure? My enclosure is finished and I was wondering how...

    Spa panel or not?

I plan on buying the Midwest Electric 50amp spa panel from Home Depot. I haven't bought it yet because I wanted to make sure I can use it. Spa panel or not?

The wire I used is 10 gauge wire. I am running it off of a 30amp breaker in the breaker box. I have no plans on using a 50 amp circuit. I just want the gfci for protection and the E-stop switch. Thank you for the help.

    Spa panel or not?

I have searched the forums for an answer and haven't seen a definitive answer to my question. I have built an E-HERMS system and am getting ready to provide power to the system. It is a 30 amp system with 5500watt elements, using only one at a time. The problem I have is I cannot find a 30amp...
