    Am I absolutely nuts?

So I've been toying with this idea for a little while, and I think I'm about to just pull the trigger and be damned if it fails miserably. I made a Graff a little while ago (beer + cider) based on the recipe on these forums, and I really liked it. Now, in my crazed mind, my gluten intolerant...

    Chill haze

I've cold crashed before many times and never had to repitch, do you find that you absolutely have to, or is it just an insurance measure that you've never tried to go without? Was hoping that my new burner and wort chiller together would mean I wouldn't have to bother with cold crashing or...

    Chill haze

I had no idea that extended time in the fridge could fix it! I'll leave it a few more days and see how things improve. Appreciate the help

    Chill haze

Great hot break, Irish moss at 10 minutes, and then chilled to 70 in about 8 minutes post boil. Yet I am still seeing chill haze? Beer is brilliant in bottle, could read a newspaper through it, but as soon as it's cold it's cloudy. Any tips? What am I missing?

    1 Gallon Cider Experiments

Just finished a coffee cinnamon cider, it has potential. Stay tuned for updated recipe and results as I churn out a few more of these tests to find the right balance. Also be on the look out for a bastard version of a graff - a coffee milt stout cider

    Georgia roll call

It's not the closest to you, but there's a brew club over here in Athens. I haven't ever been but that might be a good place to start. Alternatively, searching these forums has proved to be ridiculously educational.

questions about kegging and bulk aging

Agree with RoundKid. Just make sure you double check that the keg is still pressurized every so often, just in case you have a slow leak on one of your seals.

    Carbonation and lagering

You can lager before or after carbonating. (or during when you are kegging) If you are force carbonating with a co2 tank, just go ahead and throw that bad boy in the fridge and hook up your co2 once the keg is cold. Personally I wouldn't natural carb in a keg because of the extra traub that...

Do I really need a secondary?

Barking, you said you'll have a 3 gal carboy open this weekend? - Don't sweat it, just transfer it over when you can. Its not like the yeast in suspension is going to suddenly go nuclear over that extra few days.

    Home made IC Question

Glad you aren't dead yet! I don't have the set up to solder, so I'm just going to twist to tie off. One day when I have my own garage I'll be able to do some cool stuff. As it is, the SWMBO isn't super happy about all my homebrew projects happening in the dining room!

    Home made IC Question

I had no idea there were different wires, apologies. No way to find out either as I was given the wire. Threw in the towel and ordered some solid core 16 gauge copper wire from amazon for cheap and will strip it. I found a bunch of 'hobby' wire, but a lot of it said that it was treated to not...

    Home made IC Question

But wait, when people build keggles etc and add thermometers and sight glasses, aren't those pieces welded into place? So then surely this welding wire is fine? Not so?

    Home made IC Question

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I just boiled water for my tests (not wort). The water left in the kettle after cooling was yellow, so I'm worried that when I'm brewing, this yellow stain will be in my wort and might make me sick in some way.

    Home made IC Question

Just made an IC from 50 feet of 3/8 copper tubing. For fittings, I went the easy route and just slid some 5/16 vinyl tubing over the copper and ring clamped it tight. I just did a big test session to measure time to boil, boil off, and then time to pitch temp using the IC. Well I must...

Help - Faucet to wort chiller

Apologies for being a complete and utter idiot at plumbing, but I really dont know what my options even are. So below is a photo of my kitchen faucet, and of the spray thing that is there too, with the spray attachment unscrewed. Which would work best for the chiller attachment, and which...
