    Brewhemoth conicals?

yeah, I'd be concerned with sanitation as well, though the same type idea works well with mash tuns. Personally, if I was you, I would buy either 1. A TC thermowell (http://www.brewershardware.com/Tri-Clover-Thermowells/) and add temp sensor later or 2. a 1" TC with 1/2" FPT thread...

    Brewhemoth conicals?

I also had them add an additional 1" port on mine for a thermowell. If you're dead set on using a analog thermometer, you could always buy one of their 1" TC fittings with a 1/4" female NPT thread. with that you could screw in a petes plug, which is used in geo thermal systems as a...

Brewhemoth conical clean in place (CIP) systems

So the new pump you bought is leaking oil? maybe it was coated with oil from the factory and should have been cleaned first? Not sure. Maybe pump water through it, back into its own bucket, then let it sit for 20 minutes and see if there is an oil slick on the surface of the water. If...

Brewhemoth conical clean in place (CIP) systems

How big is the CIP ball you're using jcaudill? What I noticed with the shurflow is the output was similar to a house water tap. If I restricted the flow with my finger, it would spray high pressure, but when released would slow down again. The CIP ball I'm using is a 2" so there is little...

    Brewhemoth conicals?

Hey Guys, pride aside, I want to mention that the shurflow pump I mentioned above just doesn't push enough to really clean the inside of the brewhemoth very well. I don't want anyone ordering one because I didn't update this thread. Cfrasier77 is correct about the GPM rating being too low...

Pride aside, I want to mention that the shurflow pump I mentioned above just doesn't push enough to really clean the inside of the brewhemoth very well. I don't want anyone ordering one because I didn't update this thread. I ended up going overboard and bought a flowtec 1/2HP high output...

    Brewhemoth conicals?

Once you order one, they build it then ship it. Once they ship it, it's not long. The ones I ordered arrived within a couple of days after being shipped. Much sooner than I expected.

    Brewhemoth Pressurized Ferment questions

yeah, I'll probably pass on the sight glass for catching yeast. too much hastle. Growlers work just fine.

    Brewhemoth Pressurized Ferment questions

you're right, especially with a 15-20GAL batch there would be way too much trub and yeast to collect on one of those. With it filling up in the first day or two, you'd only be collecting trub anyway. It's not like you could clean it out and reattach it for a second dump as it would blow the...

    Brewhemoth Pressurized Ferment questions

I was looking at that strainer too, but considered it for a kettle. Did you see the filter test? http://www.brewershardware.com/FILTER1-Testing.html Looks pretty promising for filtering hops and trub. I wonder how well this filter would work if you filled it with hops and ran your beer...

    Brewhemoth Pressurized Ferment questions

just a rule of thumb I use. I was told that yeast under high pressure becomes less viable...and when depressurized quickly tends to kill the yeast. I could be completely off, but that's what I've been following and no issues so far.

    Brewhemoth Pressurized Ferment questions

Hey Jukas, Congrats on the Brewhemoth. Great fermenters. Regarding depressurizing yeast, as long as you're capturing your yeast to repitch at around the 5psi mark, there should be no issues. I definitely wouldn't catch the remaining yeast after your higher carbing pressure. I was...

    Brewhemoth conicals?

Lookup the GPM rating on any electric pressure washer out there, they are all around 1.3-2GPM. Take it or leave it, I'm just suggesting a pump with actual temp and PSI ratings that work with CIP balls for $75. pump self primes to 11' vertical as well.

    Brewhemoth conicals?

the only reason I would chose the pump I posted over a submersible type is the shurflow states a psi rating of 60 psi, and is good up to 170F. The submersibles don't state either. just throwing that out there.

Brewhemoth conical clean in place (CIP) systems

As long as the pump you mentioned produces enough PSI then I don't think there is really any advantage to either. The only thing I can think of that the pump I mentioned would do that the one you mentioned wouldn't is creating a closed loop wash. The pump pumps from the dump valve back up...

    Brewhemoth conicals?

I noticed a lot of questions about what type of pump to use with a CIP ball. CIP balls are designed to be used with high pressure, so a pump needs to be a positive pressure pump, capable to pressures withing the CIP ball pressure rating. Here is a good quality, and very affordable positive...

Brewhemoth conical clean in place (CIP) systems

Anyone looking for a solid pump for their CIP setup should check these out: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00571IFN6/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 They are a sureflow positive pressure pump. 45 psi, with a switch bumping them up to 60psi, right in the 30-60psi working range of most CIP balls...
